El Centro Simon Wiesenthal (CSW) emitió la siguiente declaración luego de su reunión del 21 de junio con el Comité de Presupuesto del Senado de los Estados Unidos para discutir la investigación continua del Comité de Presupuesto sobre la retención de activos nazis por parte de bancos extranjeros durante y después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
El Rabino Abraham Cooper (Decano Asociado de CSW y Director de Acción Social Global), el Dr. Ariel Gelblung (Director de CSW para América Latina), el Padre Patrick Desbois (Encargado de misión del Cardenal de París y asesor del Vaticano sobre relaciones con el judaísmo) y abogados Jonathan Missner y Andrew Beato, de Stein Mitchell Beato & Missner LLP, se reunieron con el Presidente del Comité Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) y el Miembro de Rango Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) para expresar su apoyo y agradecimiento por la continuación de su investigación bipartidista.
Los funcionarios de CSW presentaron Shofars a los senadores Whitehouse y Grassley junto con placas inscritas con las palabras bíblicas «Tzedek Tzedek Tirdof» – «Justicia, justicia perseguirás».
“El CSW también aprecia el reconocimiento del Comité de Presupuesto del derecho de una institución, como el Centro Simon Wiesenthal, a investigar y responsabilizar a cualquier entidad con relaciones históricas con miembros del partido nazi o los saqueos de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Hoy, más que nunca, el CSW está comprometido con esta misión y continuará trabajando para garantizar que aquellos que se beneficiaron de los horrores de la Segunda Guerra Mundial sean examinados y obligados a rendir cuentas en la mayor medida posible”, afirmó.
“El Centro Simon Wiesenthal está eternamente agradecido con el Presidente Whitehouse, el Miembro de Rango Grassley y todos los miembros del Comité de Presupuesto del Senado por el coraje de seguir adelante con su investigación”, concluyó el Rabino Cooper.
