El Ministerio de Defensa de Israel anunció este lunes un progreso significativo en el proyecto revolucionario de transportar soldados heridos desde el campo de batalla utilizando vehículos aéreos no tripulados: «Esto ya no es ciencia ficción. En dos años, este dron será adoptado por las FDI», comentaron.
El proyecto, llamado «Hirahfanbulans, es promovido por la Oficina del Programa de Investigación y Desarrollo del Ministerio de Defensa y el objetivo del mismo está cifrado en el propio nombre, compuesto por las palabras hebreas «infantería», «dron» y «ambulancia».
El prototipo, titulado E-VTOL, realizó su primer vuelo de demostración en mayo en el sur de Israel. Los resultados parecían tan alentadores que se decidió seguir adelante. Se espera que, durante la próxima etapa de prueba, que tendrá lugar en 2024, haya un lanzamiento con una carga útil.
Inicialmente, como dicen los desarrolladores, se le enseñará al dron a entregar municiones, medicamentos y alimentos al campo de batalla.
