Un médico británico que solía trabajar en el Hospital Shifa, el centro médico más grande de Gaza, bajo el cual, según las FDI, Hamas opera una importante base de comando y control, confirmó que había áreas del hospital a las que no podía ir, o de lo contrario sería asesinado.
El médico, que no quiso dar su nombre por temor a poner en peligro a sus colegas en Gaza, dijo que había trabajado en Shifa y otros hospitales en Gaza y Cisjordania durante tres meses, hace tres años.
«Cuando me pidieron por primera vez que trabajara allí [en Shifa], me dijeron que había una parte del hospital a la que no debía acercarme y que, si lo hacía, estaría en peligro de que me dispararan», citó.
“¿Te explicaron por qué fue así?”, preguntó la periodista Irris Makler en la conversación grabada.

“No, pero implícito estaba que se estaba utilizando con fines no médicos”, respondió el médico.
“¿Y vio algo que no fuera médico o obedeció las instrucciones y se mantuvo alejado?” continuó el entrevistador.
El médico dijo: “Me mantuve alejado, pero vi algunos personajes no médicos de aspecto dudoso entrando y saliendo todo el tiempo. Era una sala que conducía a un sótano. Como dije, no fui allí; así que me porté bien”.
“Dirían que podría haber muchas otras razones por las que le dirían que no vaya a un área particular de un hospital. No es raro”, argumentó el periodista.
