Alemania anunció su intención de unirse a los procedimientos de La Haya como tercero en el derecho de Israel. Alemania también anunció que rechaza enérgicamente la acusación de genocidio formulada contra Israel, que, según afirma, no tiene fundamento.
Horas después del cierre del segundo día de audiencia en la Corte Internacional de Justicia de La Haya, el portavoz del gobierno alemán emitió un comunicado que decía: «El 7 de octubre de 2023, los terroristas de Hamás atacaron brutalmente, torturaron, mataron y secuestraron a personas inocentes en Israel. «El objetivo de Hamás es eliminar a Israel. Desde entonces, Israel se defiende contra el ataque inhumano de Hamás.»
«Teniendo en cuenta la historia de Alemania y el crimen contra la humanidad del Holocausto, el gobierno federal se considera particularmente comprometido con la Convención contra el Genocidio», añade el comunicado. «Este tratado es un instrumento central del derecho internacional para la implementación del ‘nunca más’ y la resistencia a la instrumentalización política«.
Alemania tiene la intención de utilizar la cláusula de la Convención contra el Genocidio, bajo la cual se creó el tribunal, para participar en el proceso como tercero y «exigir aclaraciones» sobre el uso de la Convención contra Israel. «Y, en general, no permitiremos el uso político del tratado», afirmó el portavoz del gobierno alemán.
