El presidente de EEUU, Joe Biden, afirmó este viernes que el ataque del movimiento palestino Hamas contra Israel de 7 de octubre pasado hizo «más apremiante que nunca» recordar el Holocausto, ya que se ha producido un «aumento alarmante del antisemitismo».
«Este año, recordar el Holocausto, la maldad de los nazis y el flagelo del antisemitismo es más apremiante que nunca«, señaló el mandatario en un comunicado.

Este viernes se celebra el Día Internacional de Conmemoración en Memoria de las Víctimas del Holocausto.
El presidente denunció un «aumento alarmante de despreciable antisemitismo en el país y en el extranjero» tras los ataques de Hamas del 7 de octubre sobre Israel, que dejaron unos 1.200 muertos y alrededor de 240 rehenes, reseñó la agencia de noticias Sputnik.
Biden afirmó que es una contradicción recordar a las víctimas del Holocausto durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial (1939-1945) pero guardar silencio ante nuevos ataques contra el pueblo judío.
«Esto incluye el negacionismo del Holocausto y los esfuerzos por minimizar los horrores que Hamas perpetró el 7 de octubre» pasado, señaló.
En aquella jornada milicianos propalestinos concretaron una extraordinaria ofensiva en territorio israelí que causó la muerte de unas 1.200 personas, en su mayoría civiles (entre ellos, mujeres y niños).
El ataque originó una igualmente inédita respuesta militar de Israel en la Franja de Gaza que ya lleva más de 110 días y ha causado al menos 26.083 muertos, en su mayoría mujeres, adolescentes y niños en el pequeño territorio palestino que gobierno Hamas.
