Irán advirtió el martes a Israel y Estados Unidos que va a responder al ataque que mató la víspera a 13 personas, incluidos siete miembros de su Guardia Revolucionaria en Damasco, en una operación que amenaza con atizar las tensiones en Oriente Medio.
El líder supremo iraní, el ayatollah Ali Jamenei, advirtió que «el régimen perverso sionista será castigado» y el presidente de Irán, Ebrahim Raisi, aseguró que ese «crimen cobarde no quedará sin respuesta».
«Día tras día somos testigos del fortalecimiento del frente de resistencia y del disgusto y el odio de las naciones libres contra la naturaleza ilegítima» de Israel, afirmó Raisi.
El mandatario iraní condenó el «acto inhumano, agresivo y despreciable de invasión y violación flagrante de las normas internacionales«.
Según él, Israel «incluyó los asesinatos indiscriminados en el orden del día» tras haber sufrido «reiteradas derrotas y fracasos contra la fe y la voluntad del Frente de Resistencia» pero «debe saber que nunca logrará sus siniestros objetivos con medios tan inhumanos«.
El bombardeo imputado a Israel, contra la sección consular de la embajada iraní en Damasco, dejó 13 muertos, siete de los cuales eran Guardianes de la Revolución iraníes.
Los ataques incluyeron «seis misiles disparados por cazas F-35», según Teherán y fueron los primeros dirigidos contra un edificio diplomático iraní en Siria, un país en guerra civil desde 2011 y donde Irán y sus aliados apoyan al gobierno del presidente Bashar al Asad.
