En un comunicado dirigido a la doctora Silvia Giorguli, presidenta de El Colegio de México (Colmex), la Comunidad Judía de México expresó su «profunda molestia y desconcierto» ante la decisión de romper relaciones académicas entre dicha institución y la Universidad Hebrea de Jerusalén.
En el documento, firmado por los presidentes y directores de la Comunidad Judía de México y la Tribuna Israelita, se destaca que el ámbito académico debería ser un «espacio de diálogo, reflexión, análisis y apertura» en lugar de un terreno para la «polarización o la exclusión».
La Universidad Hebrea de Jerusalén, reconocida como una de las instituciones académicas más prestigiosas del mundo, ha recibido numerosos galardones de alto nivel, incluidos siete premios Nobel, la Medalla Fields en matemáticas, y el Premio Wolf en ciencias y artes. Estas distinciones, señala el comunicado, no solo reflejan su excelencia académica, sino también su impacto en el conocimiento compartido a nivel global.
Los representantes de la Comunidad Judía de México manifestaron su preocupación por la pérdida del valor que representa el intercambio de ideas, conocimientos y perspectivas diversas, el cual beneficia directamente a las comunidades académicas. Asimismo, consideran que esta ruptura envía un mensaje contrario a los principios de colaboración y entendimiento mutuo que deberían regir en las relaciones académicas.
El comunicado concluye con la firma de Elias Achar, presidente del Comité Central de la Comunidad Judía de México, y otros líderes de la comunidad, quienes reiteran su descontento por esta decisión y enfatizan la importancia de mantener abiertas las puertas del diálogo en beneficio de la academia y el conocimiento compartido.
