Ivanka Trump, una de las hijas del presidente electo de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, y su esposo, el ex asesor de la Casa Blanca Jared Kushner, anunciaron que donarán un millón de dólares a la organización Jabad Lubavitch en los Emiratos Árabes Unidos (EAU).
La donación se llevará a cabo tras la muerte del rabino Zvi Kogan, asesinado precisamente en los EAU el 21 de noviembre último, al parecer a manos de sicarios de origen uzbeko.
En los Emiratos Árabes Unidos, personas de todas las religiones y orígenes prosperan juntas en un entorno de comprensión y respeto mutuos», dijo Kushner, considerado uno de los principales impulsores de los Acuerdos de Abraham.
Ivanka Trump «y yo -continuó- donaremos un millón de dólares al Jabad de los Emiratos Árabes Unidos y redoblaremos nuestros esfuerzos para trabajar con la comunidad judía y los líderes del país para construir una comunidad judía resiliente y vibrante en Abu Dhabi y Dubai».

La nota del yerno de Donald Trump advirtió «a todos aquellos que deseen agravar» las «divisiones históricas» en la región que «sus esfuerzos solo fortalecen la determinación de la comunidad judía de contribuir a sociedades que nos respeten y nos den la bienvenida».
Otro millón de dólares de la familia Kushner
Según el ex asesor presidencial, «la historia demostró que quienes abrazan al pueblo judío se benefician, y quienes lo persiguen al final enfrentan una derrota espectacular».
El hermano de Kushner, Joshua, anunció que junto a su esposa, la modelo Karlie Kloss, también donarán un millón de dólares a la organización religiosa judía en los EAU.
Kogan, un rabino ultraortodoxo de 28 años, era ayudante del rabino Levi Yitzchak, el líder religioso de la comunidad judía en Emiratos Árabes. También atendía un popular mercado kosher en Dubai.
La presencia judía en la nación del Golfo creció fuertemente tras la firma de los Acuerdos de Abraham, que el 2020 formalizaron los lazos diplomáticos de Israel con los EAU, Bahrein y Marruecos.
¿Un rastro iraní?
Desde Jerusalén se apuntó al régimen iraní como responsable del secuestro y asesinato de Kogan. La embajada de Irán en los EAU rechazó la vinculación con la muerte del rabino israelí-moldavo.
Sin embargo, en uno de sus reportes sobre el caso, el portal en español Correo del Golfo recordó que «funcionarios occidentales creen que Irán dirige operaciones de inteligencia en EAU y vigila a los cientos de miles de iraníes que viven en el país».
Los tres uzbekos sospechados de haber perpetrado el ataque ya fueron arrestados por la policía de los EAU. Las normas de la justicia local prevén incluso la pena de muerte.
