Más de 1500 artistas firmaron una carta abierta instando a las autoridades del Festival de Cine de Venecia que cancele la invitación a la actriz israelí Gal Gadot.
Según indicó el medio italiano La Repubblica, Gadot no asistirá al Festival de Cine de Venecia por presiones pro palestinas.
La actriz israelí protagoniza la película de Julien Schnabel “En las manos de Dante” junto a Gerard Butler. Finalmente no acompañará al equipo de rodaje al evento, tal como estaba previsto en un principio.
El grupo Venice4Palestine exigió la cancelación de las invitaciones de los actores acusando que apoyan al gobierno israelí.
Entre los 1500 firmantes hay profesionales del cine italiano — directores, actores y artistas—, organizados en el colectivo Venice4Palestine.
La semana pasada publicaron una carta abierta instaron al Festival a que “sean más valientes y claros al condenar el genocidio en curso en Gaza y la limpieza étnica en toda Palestina llevada a cabo por el gobierno y el ejército israelíes”. Luego, el domingo, emitieron una segunda carta exigiendo a los organizadores del evento cancelar la invitación enviada a Gadot.

La película de Schnabel se proyectará el 3 de septiembre, el mismo día que se presentará “La Voz de Hind Rajab”.
El drama político trata sobre la muerte de una niña palestina de 6 años que quedó atrapada en un coche atacado por las Fuerzas de Defensa de Israel (FDI) en Gaza en 2024 y fue encontrada muerta posteriormente.
Además, el 30 de agosto se llamó a una manifestación en Venecia bajo el lema “Detengamos el genocidio – Palestina libre”.
“En un momento en el que los ojos del mundo estarán puestos en Venecia y en el Festival de Cine, tenemos el deber de hacer oír la voz de todos aquellos que están indignados y se rebelan: dirijamos pues la atención del Festival hacia Palestina”, dijo el organismo.
También agregó: “El genocidio es evidente. El ejército israelí en Gaza está masacrando a la población civil palestina. Ataca hospitales, campos de refugiados, puntos de distribución de agua y alimentos, escuelas, universidades, iglesias y mezquitas”.
“La negación de ayuda humanitaria, agua y alimentos es una estrategia de genocidio, llevada a cabo con la complicidad de los gobiernos de EE.UU. y de Europa, incluido el italiano, que sigue apoyando a Israel económica, política y diplomáticamente, sigue suministrando armas y mantiene acuerdos comerciales”, añadió.
