La Unidad de Información Financiera (UIF), que es el organismo encargado del análisis, el tratamiento y la transmisión de información a los efectos de prevenir e impedir el Lavado de Activos y que depende del Ministerio de Economía de la Nación, prorrogó el congelamiento de activos de Hezbollah, sus líderes y entidades específicas del ala militar que la integran.
Había sido estipulado desde julio del año pasado y este lunes último se conoció que se extendió la medida.
La UIF es un organismo autónomo que está dentro de la órbita del Ministerio de Economía.
Entre los fundamentos que se indicaron para justificar el congelamiento administrativo se destacaron los atentados realizados por la organización a nivel global; las sospechas respecto a la responsabilidad de Hezbollah en los atentados contra la Embajada de Israel y la Amia en la Argentina; la presencia actual de elementos terroristas en la zona de la Triple Frontera y el riesgo de financiación que representan; y los vínculos comprobados entre Hezbollah y el régimen iraní.
Pero además se destacaron cuestiones más recientes, como la muerte del general Qasem Soleimani y las represalias que funcionarios iraníes prometieron llevar a cabo.
Según explicaron fuentes de la UIF, las acciones de congelamiento de activos tienen como objetivo “mitigar los riesgos a la seguridad nacional y a la integridad del orden económico financiero derivadas de sospechas detectadas de financiación del terrorismo”.
