La vuelta al colegio tras el coronavirus está resultando complicada en Israel: más de 16.000 estudiantes y profesores están en cuarentena, un centenar de escuelas ha tenido que cerrar y se han localizado 360 positivos desde el regreso a las aulas.
Anoche se tomó la decisión de cerrar los colegios del Consejo Regional de Sdot Neguev, después de que diese positivo un alumno que había estado en contacto con escolares de otros centros en el autobús, y hoy se ordenó el cierre de una escuela en el vecindario de Guiló, en Jerusalén oriental, y se puso a todos los asistentes de primero de primaria en cuarentena.
Esta semana, también cerraron escuelas en Tel Aviv y Yafo, en la costa occidental, y en Safed, en el norte del país. En esta última ciudad fue un conductor de ruta que lleva a decenas de niños al colegio a diario quien dio positivo en el COVID-19.
Estos son los últimos casos que se suman a una larga lista de 16.000 niños y empleados de centros educativos obligados a permanecer dos semanas en sus casas sin salir para evitar la expansión del virus. En total, son 110 los centros cerrados desde que se permitió su reapertura de forma gradual a principios de mayo. Las autoridades educativas están buscando fórmulas para examinar a los miles que están ahora en cuarentena.
La mayoría del millón y medio de escolares del país podrá celebrar fiestas de fin de curso, aunque serán mucho más limitadas de lo habitual: solo podrán participar los alumnos de una misma clase y no acudirán los padres. Las ceremonias de graduación, sin embargo, no se celebrarán.
Recientemente, el primer ministro, Benjamín Netanyahu, alertó a la población sobre las dificultades de la desescalada, pidió máxima precaución, recordó los puntos clave (lavado de manos, uso de mascarillas y distanciamiento físico) y alertó de que de seguir incrementándose las cifras de contagios, el país podría dar marcha atrás en varias de las medidas, en particular en la apertura de los centros educativos.
