El primer ministro, Benjamín Netanyahu, anunció que Israel y Emiratos Árabes Unidos (EAU) trabajarán juntos en la lucha contra la enfermedad COVID-19.
“Los Ministerios de Salud de Israel y Emiratos Árabes Unidos anunciarán inminentemente la cooperación en la lucha contra el coronavirus. Esta unión se expresará en investigación, desarrollo y tecnología en áreas que mejorarán la seguridad de la salud en toda la región”, afirmó en primera instancia Netanyahu.
El discurso del premier se llevó a cabo en la ceremonia de graduación de pilotos de la Fuerza Aérea. Allí destacó que el acuerdo es “resultado de contactos extensivos e intensivos en los últimos meses, y traerá una bendición para muchos en la región”.
Finalmente, al referirse a las amenazas que Israel enfrenta por parte de Irán, Siria y el Líbano, Netanyahu subrayó: “Cuando más fuerte somos, más poderosos somos. Disuadimos a nuestros enemigos y acercamos a nuestros amigos”.
Según el Canal 12 de la televisión israelí, el director del Mossad, Yossi Cohen, fue un actor clave en el logro del acuerdo. Como resultado, esto podría incluir la apertura de misiones en ambos países. Y se indica que el plan es comenzar con la lucha contra el virus y, seguidamente, expandir la cooperación hacia otras áreas.
