La decisión se da en el contexto del 26 aniversario del atentado a la sede de la AMIA en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
El Gobernador de Mendoza, Rodolfo Suarez, estableció que se adopte, en el ámbito de la Administración Pública Provincial la definición de “antisemitismo” aprobada por la Alianza Internacional para el Recuerdo del Holocausto (IHRA).
“El antisemitismo es una cierta percepción de los judíos que puede expresarse como el odio a los judíos. Las manifestaciones físicas y retóricas del antisemitismo se dirigen a las personas judías o no judías y/o a sus bienes, a las instituciones de las comunidades judías y a sus lugares de culto”.

Para ser incorporada como guía de aplicación. La finalidad es la de contribuir a la lucha contra el antisemitismo en todas sus formas. Colaborar en la construcción de una cultura de prevención de la hostilidad y la violencia a que llevan los prejuicios y la intolerancia. Promover la educación para la pluralidad y reforzar la tarea de garantizar el cumplimiento del objetivo de la educación, la memoria y la investigación del Holocausto. También de sus lecciones para nosotros y las generaciones venideras.
La decisión del gobernador de la Provincia quedó establecida mediante Decreto 866, publicado hoy en el Boletín Oficial. Se enmarca en el reciente aniversario del atentado a la sede de la Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA). Fue perpetrado el 18 de julio de 1994, que se cobró la vida de 85 personas, con un saldo de más de 300 heridos.
