El 12 de septiembre, el secretario de Estado de Estados Unidos, Mike Pompeo, criticó al gobierno iraní por promover un libelo antisemita sobre el 11 de septiembre. Además de anunciar que albergará otro concurso de dibujos animados sobre el Holocausto. Lamentablemente, parece que la repulsiva competencia de dibujos animados antisemitas ya está oficialmente en marcha.
Un organizador del último concurso del gobierno iraní, Masoud Shojaei-Tabatabai, había expresado sus esperanzas de organizar un concurso de este tipo en la prensa iraní. Se centraría en preguntar «por qué la nación palestina debe pagar por el Holocausto.
Sin embargo, poco después, el sitio web personal del líder supremo iraní Ali Khamenei recibió a Shojaei-Tabatabai para una entrevista. En la misma anunció que la convocatoria de contribuciones a su concurso se emitiría en unos días.

En esa entrevista, Shojaei-Tabatabaei argumentó que el propósito de tal competencia sería enfatizar por qué se le permite a la revista francesa Charlie Hebdo publicar materiales que insulten al profeta Mahoma. Mientras tanto, los revisionistas europeos que niegan el Holocausto están sujetos a sanciones.
Confirmó que esta sería la tercera convocatoria de Irán para presentaciones a un concurso sobre el Holocausto. Llamó a estos concursos de dibujos animados «un arma» para Irán. «Desafiamos el debate sobre el Holocausto y ellos se vuelven locos».
El concurso se lanzó oficialmente el martes 22 de septiembre bajo el título Palestine is Not Alone. Se utiliza en lugar del título anticipado mencionado anteriormente por Shojaei-Tabatabai: The Atonement of the Holocaust .
Su sitio web indicó que el concurso estará abierto hasta diciembre para presentaciones internacionales. Será juzgado por varias figuras internacionales y que las presentaciones están invitadas para dibujos animados, caricaturas políticas y carteles también.

Y aunque el Holocausto no se mencionó explícitamente a este respecto, sí figura en los comentarios de los organizadores.
Lejos de ser una iniciativa privada, una vez más esta contienda es producto de los órganos estatales del régimen.
En particular, el evento es un proyecto de la división de la Zona de las Artes de la Organización de Propagación Islámica de Irán, que depende directamente del líder supremo del régimen, Ali Khamenei. Shojaei-Tabatabai dirige el centro de artes visuales de esa división, y también se le unió el director general de Arts Zone, Mohamad Mahdi Daman, para el evento de lanzamiento del concurso el día 22 que fue ampliamente cubierto por la prensa controlada por el régimen de Irán.
