Los ministros de Economía y Finanzas de Emiratos Árabes Unidos firmaron en el aeropuerto una serie de acuerdos con Israel, que incluyen la exención de visas y decenas de vuelos directos por semana. Netanyahu dio la bienvenida a los funcionarios del país árabe: «Aseguramos a nuestros hijos un futuro brillante de paz». El ministro de Finanzas emiratí respondió: «Los estamos esperando».
Por primera vez desde la firma del acuerdo de paz en la Casa Blanca, una delegación oficial y de alto nivel de Emiratos Árabes Unidos llegó al aeropuerto Ben Gurion. Los ministros de Finanzas y Economía del país árabe, Obeid Khomeid al-Tayyar y Abdullah Ben-Tok al-Marie, respectivamente, aterrizaron en Israel este mediodía (martes) junto a funcionarios estadounidenses para celebrar una serie de reuniones y para llevar a cabo una ceremonia de firma de los acuerdos en el aeropuerto.
Al comienzo de la ceremonia para la firma de los acuerdos, el primer ministro Benjamín Netanyahu se dirigió a las delegaciones de Emiratos y Estados Unidos que llegaron a Tel Aviv. «Bienvenidos a Israel», expresó. «Hoy estamos haciendo historia por generaciones. Esta es la primera visita de Emiratos a Israel. Estamos firmando cuatro acuerdos que producirán cambios reales para nuestros pueblos», añadió.

«El entusiasmo por este acuerdo es enorme», manifestó Netanyahu. «Es real y refleja el potencial que se está desarrollando hoy. La visita de una delegación tan importante de Emiratos Árabes Unidos y los acuerdos mostrarán a nuestra gente, la región y el mundo entero los beneficios de la normalización de las relaciones. Creo que más países en el Medio Oriente entienden que es mejor trabajar juntos, como amigos».
El primer ministro pidió a la delegación de Emiratos que le transmitiera al príncipe heredero emiratí, Mohammad bin Zayed, su agradecimiento por su «gran liderazgo». Y agregó: “La paz no se queda en el papel. La estamos promoviendo para que sus frutos maduren lo más rápido posible, y algunos de ellos ya son visibles».
«Todos somos hijos de Abraham, todos tenemos un pasado y un futuro común. Juntos nos aseguramos a nosotros y a nuestros hijos un futuro brillante de paz. Ahlan wa sahlan (habitual saludo árabe). Bienvenidos», concluyó Netanyahu.
Durante la ceremonia en el aeropuerto, representantes de Israel y Emiratos Árabes Unidos firmaron acuerdos en los ámbitos de la aviación, la exención de visas, la protección de inversiones y en el sector de la ciencia y la tecnología. En lo que al ámbito aeronáutico se refiere, se permitirán 28 vuelos semanales de pasajeros entre Abu Dhabi y Dubai al aeropuerto Ben Gurion, en Tel Aviv, así como vuelos chárter ilimitados entre Emiratos y el aeropuerto Ramon, cerca de Eilat.

Después de la ceremonia, se estima que Netanyahu se reunirá con altos funcionarios emiratíes y estadounidenses. Luego mantendrá un encuentro a solas con el secretario del Tesoro de Estados Unidos, Mnuchin. Al mismo tiempo, el canciller Gabi Ashkenazi se reunirá con miembros de la delegación de Emiratos para almorzar y los recibirá en un evento científico-tecnológico sobre asuntos espaciales.
