Representantes del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Israel visitaron Manama, la capital de Bahréin, esta semana y examinaron posibles propiedades donde se establecería la embajada israelí.

Cancillería tiene previsto abrir a finales de año tres misiones temporales en los países del Golfo Pérsico con los que Israel firmó acuerdos de normalización. Dos en los Emiratos Árabes Unidos (embajada en Abu Dabi y un consulado general en Dubai) y una en (Manama) Bahréin.

En Abu Dhabi, el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores planea establecer una de las embajadas israelíes más grandes del mundo, que además de los representantes del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores también incluirá otros ministerios gubernamentales.

Israel y Bahrein acordaron establecer relaciones diplomáticas formales. De esa manera el pequeño país del Golfo Pérsico se convirtió en el cuarto estado árabe en normalizar sus vínculos con el estado judío.

El acuerdo organizado por Estados Unidos coronó una visita de un día de una delegación de altos funcionarios estadounidenses e israelíes a Bahrein.

En setiembre, Bahrein y los Emiratos Árabes Unidos firmaron un acuerdo en una ceremonia de carácter festivo en la Casa Blanca para conmemorar los “Acuerdos Abraham”. Un par de pactos diplomáticos con Israel orquestados por Estados Unidos. El pacto firmado con los EAU ya establecía las relaciones formalmente. De todas maneras el acuerdo forjado con Bahrein era menos detallado e incluía una promesa de hacer lo propio después.

“Llegar a la paz y a la normalización de las relaciones con Bahréin, los Emiratos Árabes Unidos y Sudán -subrayó el Primer Ministro Netanyahu- representa un gran logro para el Estado de Israel.

Para el jefe de gobierno estos acuerdos son «el resultado de un largo esfuerzo realizado en los últimos años». Para ampliar el círculo de la paz. Un esfuerzo para traer la verdadera paz, un esfuerzo para traer la paz y en favor de la paz».
