Ambos fueron arrestados e interrogados, y se espera que se presenten en los próximos días para una nueva comparecencia. La justicia evalúa si se los puede llevar a juicio por acoso, conducta negligente y violación de las leyes de tránsito.

Los youtubers palestinos, conocidos a su vez como «SkateTwins», emigraron de Gaza hace dos años, vía Turquía, y recibieron asilo político en Bélgica.

El embajador de Israel en Bélgica, Emmanuel Nahshon, expresó que «los gemelos crean una atmósfera agresiva y desagradable». Además, agregó que se trata de «un desafío innecesario y agresivo cuyo único objetivo es humillar a los transeúntes ultraortodoxos en el barrio judío ubicado en el corazón de Amberes».

Por su parte, el parlamentario belga Michael Freilich manifestó: «Son relativamente famosos aquí. Desafortunadamente traen para acá el conflicto israelí-palestino. No entienden que la comunidad judía local no tiene un pasaporte israelí y no es responsable de la política del gobierno israelí”.
