Este lunes en la Knéset se llevó a cabo una sesión especial por el aniversario luctuoso de Yitzhak Rabin, a 26 años de su asesinato en Tel Aviv, en la que el canciller israelí Yair Lapid lanzó una dura crítica contra la oposición política liderada por Benjamín Netanyahu.
Durante su intervención, Lapid, jefe del partido centrista Yesh Atid, aseguró que la lucha política actual en Israel no es entre la derecha y la izquierda, sino entre políticos que creen en la democracia y aquellos intentan destruirla, recogió el sitio Ynet.
Lapid afirmó que Rabin no fue asesinado por la derecha, de la que dijo que en su naturaleza real es democrática, sino por quienes no estaban dispuestos a aceptar la democracia israelí. “Yigal Amir quería asesinar a la democracia”, expresó.

El canciller pasó a arremeter contra miembros de la oposición política al equipararlos en ideología con el asesino de Rabin, informó Enlace Judío. Esto provocó la salida del recinto de los legisladores Bezalel Smotrich y Avi Maoz del partido de extrema derecha Hatzionut Hadatit, y de OfirKatz del partido de derecha Likud.
“Los herederos ideológicos de Yigal Amir se sientan hoy en la Knéset de Israel, reciben legitimación, son invitados bienvenidos en todos los estudios [de televisión]. Si no hubiéramos logrado el milagro del gobierno de cambio, ellos serían ministros en el gobierno”, lanzó Lapid.
Tras la dura expresión de Lapid, Smotrich inmediatamente le vociferó “¿Te refieres a la Lista Conjunta? ¿No te da vergüenza?”, antes de abandonar el recinto a gritos.
Poco después, en un mensaje publicado en sus redes sociales, Smotrich respondió agriamente en contra de Lapid, acusándolo de incitar al odio contra la derecha religiosa política.
“Yair Lapid, con el odio y la incitación que gotea de su persona, un hombre pequeño que es incapaz de estar a la altura del momento y de la posición y el estatus estatal que todos buscamos honrar en el pleno [de la Knéset], es el socio principal de Naftali Bennett.
“Es primer ministro alterno y ministro de Asuntos Exteriores ‘gracias’ a Naftali Bennett. La oscura mancha y la responsabilidad de la incitación contra la derecha y la población religiosa está en manos de Bennett. Basta del doble juego”, dijo.

Lapid reiteró que el asesinato de Rabin fue en sí mismo “un asesinato de la democracia israelí” y señaló que, en aparente alusión al gobierno de Netanyahu, en años recientes se le ha intentado “asesinar por otros medios”.
“Nosotros lo impedimos en el último momento por un compromiso patriótico, entendiendo que lo sucedido no debe de repetirse. Quiero decirle a las fuerzas antidemocráticas que circulan entre nosotros: vamos a estar aquí mucho tiempo, no nos vamos ir a ningún lado”.
