El Papa Francisco denunció en Oriente Medio hoy un terrorismo de «dimensiones antes inimaginables» y pidió «una adecuada respuesta de la comunidad internacional».
Francisco precisó que los cristianos «son perseguidos y han debido dejar sus casas de manera brutal» y «lamentablemente bajo la indeferencia de tantos».
Para el Papa, «esta situación injusta» es «muy preocupante» y requiere «una adecuada respuesta de la comunidad internacional».
Jorge Bergoglio habló en la apertura en el aula nueva del Sínodo del Consistorio Ordinario Público para dos causas de canonización, en la cual participan los patriarcas de Oriente Medio para informar a los miembros del Colegio Cardenalicio la situación de los cristianos en la región.
El Consistorio «está dedicado también al compromiso de paz de la Iglesia.
«Un día después del cierre de la tercera asamblea general extraordinaria del Sínodo de los Obispos sobre la familia -dijo el Papa citado por Radio Vaticana- he querido dedicar este Consistorio, además de a algunas causas de canonización, a otra cuestión que me llega muy al corazón, Medio Oriente, y en especial, la situación de los cristianos en la región».
Dijo que «nos une el deseo de paz y de estabilidad en Medio Oriente y la voluntad de favorecer la resolución de los conflictos a través del diálogo, la reconciliación y elcompromiso político».
«Al mismo tiempo, queremos darle la mayor ayuda posible a las comunidades cristianas para apoyar su permanencia en la región. Como he tenido la ocasión de reiterar muchas veces, no podemos resignarnos a pensar a Medio Oriente sin cristianos, que desdehace 2.000 años se confiesan en nombre de Jesús», apuntó.
«Los últimos acontecimientos, en especial en Irak y Siria, son muy preocupantes. Asistimos a un fenómeno de terrorismo de dimensiones antes inimaginables. Muchos de nuestros hermanos son perseguidos y han debido dejar sus casas de manera brutal.Parece que se ha perdido el sentido del valor de la vida humana, parece que la persona no cuenta y se la puede sacrificar a otros intereses. Y todo esto, lamentablemente, ante la indiferencia de tantos», afirmó.
