La emisora del grupo terrorista Estado Islámico (ISIS, por sus siglas en inglés) en Afganistán, llamada La Voz del Califato, fue destruida en un ataque con drones de Estados Unidos donde murieron 29 yihadistas, según informaron fuentes oficiales a la agencia de noticias EFE.
Entre los fallecidos hay cuatro empleados y tres técnicos de la radio, manifestó a EFE Attaullah Khogyanaim, vocero del gobernador de la provincia de Nangarhar. Explicó que la operación se lanzó el lunes por la noche con cuatro bombardeos diferentes con drones en el distrito Achin.
La Voz del Califato había funcionado en los últimos dos meses en Nangarhar con mensajes en los que llamaba a la población, especialmente a los más jóvenes, a que se enrolaran en el grupo y se levantaran contra el gobierno afgano.
«Esta vez ha quedado completamente destruida en los bombardeos con drones estadounidenses», corroboró a EFE Zabihullah Zmarai, miembro del Consejo Provincial.
De acuerdo con Zmarai, la estación de radio, que al principio comenzó a emitir en pastún y recientemente había iniciado su programación en dari e inglés, era usada como «una herramienta de presión psicológica contra la población», en una emisión sin interrupciones.
El Estado Islámico está presente en al menos cuatro provincias del este y sur de Afganistán desde hace un año, pero es en Nangarhar donde los insurgentes han erigido su mayor bastión en el país asiático, donde controlan amplias zonas de territorio.
