La UEFA, rector del fútbol europeo, podrá tomar la decisión de multar al club por violar el artículo 16-2 del reglamento, el cual impide «el uso de gestos, palabras, objetos u otros medios para transmitir un mensaje no apropiado en un acontecimiento deportivo, especialmente mensajes que son políticos, ideológicos, religiosos, ofensivos o de una naturaleza provocadora»
Algo similar ocurrió con los fanáticos del Barcelona, en la final de la Liga de Campeones de 2015. En ese partido expusieron banderas catalanas, además de entonar estrofas independentistas.
Anteriormente, la UEFA multó al club escocés por esta misma conducta durante un partido contra el KR Reikiavik, de Islandia.
Mañana se disputará, en Israel, el partido de vuelta, y el ganador formará parte de la fase de grupos del torneo más importante de Europa. El primer partido acabó con la victoria del Celtic por 5-2.
