La UNESCO prepara la conmemoración el Día Internacional en Memoria de las Víctimas del Holocausto, con una jornada centrada en reflexionar sobre el papel de museos y sitios históricos en la educación sobre el tema, informó la entidad.
De acuerdo al comunicado, del 24 al 26 de enero tendrán lugar numerosas actividades previas al día 27, cuando se cumple un aniversario más de la liberación de los campos de concentración y exterminio de Auschwitz-Birkenau, durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
Como cada año, la organización de Naciones Unidas recordará ‘el genocidio perpetrado contra el pueblo judío y otros crímenes nazis para reafirmar su compromiso en la promoción de la educación sobre la historia del Holocausto y el combate contra el racismo y el antisemitismo’, señaló el texto.
La jornada incluirá conferencias, mesas redondas, debates, conciertos, proyecciones de filmes y otras actividades que contarán con la participación de especialistas y personalidades relacionadas con el estudio del Holocausto.
Asimismo se expondrá una muestra de reliquias de la violencia nazi, principalmente con objetos personales de quienes fueron recluidos en los campos de concentración y que fueron hallados recientemente en excavaciones.
La exhibición será inaugurada por la directora general de la Unesco, Irina Bokova, y el director del museo estatal de Auschwitz-Birkenau.
