El ayatollah Ali Khamenei, líder supremo de la República Islámica de Irán, advirtió sobre una «conspiración sionista» para corromper el rol de la mujer en la sociedad basada en la igualdad de género.
La máxima autoridad persa hizo estas declaraciones durante el Día Nacional de las Mujeres y las Madres, una festividad iraní en conmemoración del aniversario del nacimiento de Fatimah, hija del profeta Mahoma y ejemplo del rol de la mujer en la tradición chiita como «madre, esposa y ama de casa».
«Los hombres y las mujeres son iguales con respecto a la espiritualidad, el liderazgo y la capacidad de guiar a la humanidad», dijo Khamenei, según reportó su propia plataforma de comunicación, pero rechazó la noción de igualdad de género y explicó que son diferentes en sus roles en la sociedad.
Finalmente, el líder religioso advirtió por los peligros que envuelven la salida de las mujeres del hogar y aseguró que «hacer de las mujeres una mercancía y un objeto de gratificación en el mundo Occidental es seguramente una conspiración sionista apuntada a destruir la sociedad».
