La candidata de ultraderecha a la presidencia de Francia, Marine Le Pen, negó la responsabilidad de su país en las detenciones de judíos durante la ocupación nazi, lo que le ha valido las críticas de sus rivales, que consideraron sus palabras de “revisionistas”.
Le Pen aseguró que Francia no era responsable de la oleada de detenciones de judíos del 16 y 17 de julio de 1942, cuando 13.000 de ellos fueron arrestados con la complicidad de las autoridades colaboracionistas del régimen de Vichy, la mayor parte de ellos deportados a los campos de concentración y exterminados.
Conocidos como los sucesos de Vél d’Hiv, esos hechos son con frecuencia señalados como uno de los momentos de la complicidad de Francia con el régimen nazi, por los que en 1995 el entonces presidente, Jacques Chirac, pidió perdón a la comunidad judía.
Pero la candidata, siguiendo así los pasos de su padre Jean-Marie Le Pen, consideró que Francia no fue responsable de esos hechos, puesto que, según ella, el régimen de Vichy no representaba al país.
“Si hubo responsables fueron los que estaban en el poder y eso no era Francia”, señaló la candidata ultraderechista.
“Algunos habían olvidado que Marine Le Pen es la hija de Jean-Marie Le Pen”, replicó el candidato socioliberal Emmanuel Macron en referencia a las diversas condenas por “negacionismo” del padre de la candidata, fundador del Frente Nacional.
Para el ex ministro, a quien los sondeos auguran que pasará a la segunda vuelta contra la ultraderechista, Le Pen comete “un error histórico y político grave” con el que muestra “su verdadero rostro”.
Las declaraciones de Marine Le Pen se producen a dos semanas de la primera vuelta de las presidenciales en la que los sondeos le sitúan en cabeza, y después de meses en los que la aspirante ha tratado de distanciarse del radicalismo de su padre.
“Si alguien dudaba de que Marine Le Pen es de extrema derecha, ya no lo puede dudar”, señaló el socialista Benoît Hamon, mientras que el izquierdista Jean-Luc Mélenchon consideró normal que hiciera esas declaraciones puesto que “ha hecho toda su educación política a la sombra de su padre”.
El conservador François Fillon, por su parte, alertó del “peligro” que supone despertar ese tipo de debates.
Ante esas críticas, Le Pen emitió un comunicado en el que quiso matizar sus palabras.
La candidata recordó que los ex presidentes Charles de Gaulle y François Mitterrand tampoco consideraban que el régimen de Vichy, “colaboracionista e ilegal”, representara a Francia.
Al mismo tiempo, señaló que no resta responsabilidad en esos hechos “innobles” a “los franceses que participaron en los mismos” y “en todas las atrocidades cometidas durante ese periodo”.
Pero acusó a sus rivales de “instrumentalizar” sus palabras con fines electoralistas en una actuación “indigna” que, según ella, “mancilla la memoria y la obra del general De Gaulle”.
