El Servicio de Seguridad General (Shabak) descubrió una compleja red de lavado de dinero del grupo Hamás, que ingresó cerca de 200 mil dólares a las arcas del grupo terrorista islámico, anunció la agencia de inteligencia.
A raíz de las sanciones, Hamás no puede ingresar ni sacar libremente dinero del país. A través de este complot que comenzó en 2016, el grupo logró transferir 200 mil dólares (aproximadamente 720 mil shekels) desde Turquía a sus oficinas en Hebrón, Cisjordania (Judea y Samaria), con ayuda desde Gaza, con el objetivo de financiar sus actividades terroristas, indicó el Shabak.
La Policía de Israel, en coordinación con el Shabak, arrestó a cinco miembros de Hamás en Cisjordania, en conexión con esta investigación, y también identificó a un agente en Gaza y otro en Turquía.
“Los hallazgos de esta operación demuestran el deseo infinito de los agentes de Hamas en Turquía y Gaza de acrecentar el terrorismo de Hamas en Cisjordania”, manifestó el Shabak.

El jefe de la operación fue identificado Muhammad Maher Bader, un cabecilla de Hamas en Hebrón y miembro del parlamento palestino.

Según el Shabak, los dos palestinos utilizaron el dinero para comprar mercadería, que enviaron a Hebrón y la vendieron. El dinero de la mercancía, a excepción de un pequeño porcentaje que era su comisión, se utilizó entonces para pagar los salarios del alto mando de Hamas en la ciudad de Cisjordania y también fue otorgada a los miembros activos del grupo terrorista, y a los miembros liberados de la cárcel.
