Los artistas han dicho que solamente la retirarán si Höcke pide perdón de rodillas por sus comentarios ante la réplica del Memorial, tal y como el canciller alemán Willy Brandt lo hizo ante el Monumento del Levantamiento del Gueto de Varsovia en 1970.
Un grupo de activistas revelaron este miércoles una réplica del Memorial del Holocausto de Berlín instalado justo en el jardín aledaño de la casa del político de extrema derecha Björn Höcke.
Höcke levantó la polémica en enero pasado después de llamar al Memorial una “vergüenza en el corazón de la capital” y de hacer un llamado para que Alemania dejara de sentirse culpable por el pasado nazi.
El político es miembro del partido Alternativa para Alemania (AfD), que en las pasadas elecciones obtuvo cerca del 13% de la votación y mantiene políticas de extrema derecha tales como terminar las políticas para los refugiados o contrarrestar el peso de la Unión Europea.
El colectivo artístico “Centro para la Belleza Política” no quiso quedarse con los brazos cruzados ante sus declaraciones e idearon plantar frente a las narices de Höcke una réplica del Memorial de Berlín en su hogar en la ciudad de Bornhagen.
“Ahora tendrá que lidiar con el hecho de que tiene vecinos que no consideran al Memorial del Holocausto un ‘monumento de vergüenza’, pero que tratan de recordar qué paso para evitar que suceda de nuevo” comentó Phillip Ruch, líder del colectivo, a un diario local.
Una campaña en línea lanzada por el colectivo ya está en marcha para financiar la manutención del terreno y de la réplica hasta por dos años.

El colectivo ha dicho que quitará la réplica del Memorial solamente si Höcke está dispuesto a pedir perdón de rodillas por sus declaraciones frente al mismo, una acción que emularía la del canciller alemán Willy Brandt pidiendo perdón en nombre de Alemania al pueblo judío y polaco ante el Monumento del Levantamiento del Gueto de Varsovia en Polonia en 1970.
