Israel es pionero en este campo en el mundo. ¿Qué adelanto médico veremos en los próximos meses?
La personalización de medicamentos, el manejo individualizado de enfermedades y la reducción del dolor crónico serán los tres mayores avances en salud digital este año, según pronostica el doctor Yossi Bahagon, médico de familia, consultor de salud digital y director de OurCrowd Qure, el primer fondo de inversión de Israel específicamente dedicado a ese tipo de salud.
La salud digital es una industria en auge cuyo valor podría llegar a los 230.000 millones en 2020. El año pasado se dispararon las inversiones en soluciones y servicios de hardware y software, incluyendo telemedicina, tecnología llevable, aplicaciones móviles y sensores de monitoreo remoto para ayudar a profesionales médicos y pacientes a prevenir y controlar enfermedades.
“La salud digital no se trata tan sólo de tecnologías sino de crear una experiencia humana diferente y mejor calidad en la atención al mismo tiempo que hace uso de innovaciones tecnológicas avanzadas”, explicó Bahagon a ISRAEL21c.
“Las plataformas centradas en el paciente que usan instrumentos basados en big data para mejorar la calidad de la atención, la eficiencia y la transparencia son la esencia de todos los sistemas que se están desarrollando”, agregó Bahagon, uno de los pioneros del sistema de salud digital en el país
Según cifras de EY Israel, Start-Up Nation Central e IATI, que patrocinaron en la cuarta conferencia de DigitalHealth.il celebrada en enero en Tel Aviv, Israel es uno de los países más avanzados del mundo en este campo, con unas 450 empresas y compañías nuevas en una variedad de campos relacionados y más de 700 participantes locales y alrededor del mundo.
Frente al aumento de costos, el envejecimiento de la población, los cuidados insuficientes y el mal uso de recursos, las tecnologías digitales han cambiado la forma en que usamos y recibimos atención médica ampliando el acceso, mejorando la calidad y manejando los costos eficientemente.
Lo que se verá en un futuro cercano
Bahagon ha escogido tres avances en salud digital que se verán en un futuro cercano. En todos estos campos hay compañías israelíes.
- 1. Personalización de medicamentos: “Hoy en día la medicina es igual para todos, aunque cada paciente tenga hábitos y ADN completamente diferentes. Esto va a cambiar drásticamente en los próximos años”.
“Cuando un paciente ingrese en mi clínica recibirá un tratamiento determinado, y otro con el mismo problema, o similar, recibirá un tratamiento diferente. La personalización se basará en el análisis de datos genéticos, clínicos y fisiológicos de cada uno”.
- 2. Manejo individualizado de las enfermedades: “En la actualidad existen plataformas para este fin, pero aún no están totalmente personalizadas para cada paciente. Será algo que se verá pronto”.
- 3. Reducción del dolor usando recursos de salud digital: “En Estados Unidos se ha generado una gran polémica por el uso excesivo de opioides. Veremos la aparición de compañías que se enfoquen en el campo de la reducción del dolor crónico recurriendo a recursos digitales avanzados, como realidad aumentada”.
En el OurCrowd Global Investment Summit, un evento internacional organizado por la firma OurCrowd que tuvo lugar recientemente en Jerusalén, miles de asistentes tuvieron la oportunidad de ver el funcionamiento de tecnologías de salud digital en una demostración llamada “El consultorio del doctor del futuro”.
Pudieron, igualmente, conocer de primera mano diversas innovaciones: el medidor personalizado de glucosa de bolsillo de DarioHealth, que funciona con una aplicación móvil para controlar la diabetes en tiempo real; un medidor de ElMindA para registrar la actividad neuronal y optimizar el tratamiento de trastornos cerebrales y lesiones; el sistema de terapia del cáncer basado en un láser de haz de protones de HIL Medical, económico y pequeño; la plataforma de rehabilitación cerebral de Intendu para adaptar el movimiento y la interacción en terapias en casa; el sistema de KolGene para conectar a médicos con laboratorios de genética de todo el mundo; el sistema robótico de Memic para practicar laparoscopias quirúrgicas internas; el sistema de imágenes médicas holográficas de RealView Imaging; y los productos de TytoCare para sencillos exámenes médicos a distancia y consultas a distancia.
