Las víctimas fueron ejecutadas a tiros este miércoles por la noche, luego de permanecer tres meses presas en la cárcel de Tasfirat, de esa ciudad iraquí
El grupo terrorista Estado Islámico (ISIS, por sus siglas en inglés) ha ejecutado a dos mujeres que fueron candidatas a las elecciones parlamentarias de abril pasado en la ciudad de Mosul, en el norte de Irak, informó este jueves a la agencia EFE un responsable de seguridad local.
Los yihadistas, que han asesinado a numerosas personalidades militares y políticas, consideran que todos los que participaron en los comicios son partidarios del régimen y contrarios a su ideología.
El jefe del Comité de Seguridad de la provincia de Nínive, cuya capital es Mosul, Mohamed al Bayati, explicó que las dos mujeres fueron ejecutadas a tiros anoche en la cárcel de Tasfirat.
Una de las víctimas es Ibtisam Ali Gergis, que fue candidata de la coalición Al Iraqiya, encabezada por el actual vicepresidente Iyad al Alaui.
La otra ex candidata ejecutada es Miran Ghazi, que participó en las legislativas representando a la lista Árabe, capitaneada por el ahora viceprimer ministro Saleh al Mutlaq.
Gergis y Ghazi estuvieron presas durante tres meses en la cárcel de Tasfirat, situada en el céntrico barrio de Al Faisalía y que ISIS emplea como centro de detención desde que se hizo con el control de Mosul en junio pasado.
El pasado octubre, los extremistas ejecutaron a otra ex candidata, Iman Yunes, que fue secuestrada junto a su marido dos meses antes, y arrojaron su cadáver a un pozo convertido en fosa común.
También asesinaron a tiros en una céntrica plaza de Mosul en septiembre a la activista de derechos humanos Samira Saleh al Noeimi, que había calificado de «acción bárbara» la destrucción por parte de los yihadistas de varias mezquitas y mausoleos.
El Estado Islámico logró el pasado junio importantes conquistas en las provincias de Nínive, Saladino y Diyala, en la mitad norte de Irak, a la vez que declaró un califato en los territorios de este país y de Siria bajo su dominio.
