Encuentran los restos de un palacio en Jerusalén donde pudo haber sido juzgado Jesús

Un grupo de arqueólogos ha localizado una prisión en el lugar, donde según creen, pudo haberse sometido a juicio y condenando a muerte a Jesús. Es un palacio que se encuentra el zona oeste del centro histórico de Jerusalén, donde se situaba el palacio del Rey Herodes durante el siglo I, según publicó el Whashington Post.

El profesor de Arqueología de la Universidad de Carolina del Norte, Shimon Gibson, el lugar donde habría tenido juicio conforme al relato del Evangelio de San Juan «estaría cerca de una de las puertas de la gran ciudad y pavimento con losas de piedra». Los detalles concuerdan con los descubrimientos arqueológicos.

El hallazgo tuvo lugar durante las obras de expansión del Museo  de la Torre de David Los arqueólogos descubrieron el lugar luego de que derrumbaron un edificio abandonado colindante con el museo. Además de este gran hallazgo descubrieron inscripciones en las celdas de los judíos presos durante el conflicto en 1940 para crear el Estado de Israel, restos industriales de la época de los cruzados y un sistema de alcantarillado subterráneo que probablemente se situaba debajo del palacio de Herodes.
