ISIS en jaque: perdió uno de sus bastiones

Luego de intensos combates, las fuerzas del gobierno de Turquía y los rebeldes sirios lograron expulsar al autodenominado califato de la frontera sirio-turca, un lugar estratégico para los yihadistas.

ISIS quedó “totalmente aislado del mundo exterior”, informaron el primer ministro turco, Binali Yıldırım, y un grupo opositor sirio, luego de la victoria de las tropas que combaten a los yihadistas cerca de la norteña ciudad de Aleppo.

Las tropas sirias fueron apoyadas por ataques aéreos en una amplia ofensiva con la que lograron recuperaron zonas perdidas el mes pasado y asediaron barrios de la ciudad bajo control rebelde, afirmaron medios estatales y un grupo activista de oposición.

Rebeldes del Ejército Libre Sirio –apoyados por Turquía– han limpiado la zona entre las poblaciones fronterizas siria de Azaz y Jarablus, informó el primer ministro turco, Binali Yildirim. “De Azaz a Jarablus, 91 kilómetros (57 millas) de la frontera han sido completamente asegurados. Todas las organizaciones terroristas fueron expulsadas, se han ido’’, aseguró Yildirim, al hablar durante una cena con organizaciones no gubernamentales en la ciudad de Diyarbakir.

A su vez, la agencia de noticias turca Anadolu dijo que el avance “ha eliminado el contacto físico de la organización terrorista Daesh con la frontera turca en el norte de Siria’’.
Del mismo modo, el Observatorio Sirio para los Derechos Humanos indicó que el ISIS “ha perdido su contacto con el mundo exterior después de perder todas las zonas fronterizas’’ con Turquía.
