Al menos nueve personas murieron anoche en dos tiroteos sucesivos contra dos bares registrados al oeste de Alemania, según informó la policía del Estado de Hesse. Los ataques se produjeron en Hanau, una ciudad de unos 100.000 habitantes situada a unos 20 kilómetros de Fráncfort. La Fiscalía precisó que también hay cuatro heridos. El presunto autor de los disparos, un vecino de Hanau de 43 años y de nacionalidad alemana, ha sido hallado este jueves muerto junto al cadáver de su madre, de 72 años, en un domicilio. Ambos presentaban heridas de bala. Estas dos muertes, más las víctimas del tiroteo sumarían 11 víctimas mortales, en un balance provisional.La fiscalía general ha asumido el caso por su especial relevancia y clasifica el delito como sospechoso de violencia terrorista, según informó la agencia de noticias alemana DPA.
En un mensaje solemne, la canciller alemana, Angela Merkel, expresó sus condolencias y confirmó que hay numerosos indicios que apuntan a una motivación “ultraderechista”, “racista” y de “odio a personas de otro origen”. “El racismo es veneno. El odio es un veneno que existe en nuestra sociedad y que es culpable de muchos crímenes”, dijo en el mensaje televisado.
El vicecanciller alemán, Olaf Scholz, pidió que lo sucedido en Hanau tenga consecuencias políticas. “Nuestros debates políticos no pueden obviar el hecho de que hay terrorismo de ultraderecha en Alemania 75 años después de la dictadura nazi. Tenemos que defender nuestra democracia liberal”.
El atacante dejó escrita una carta de 24 páginas y publicó un vídeo en el que mezcla teorías conspirativas y delirios con arengas xenófobas. Se trata de un relato biográfico en el que arranca con su nacimiento y explica cómo empezó a sentirse vigilado por los servicios secretos, con agentes “capaces de leer la mente”. Después, entra de lleno en ataques contra diversos grupos étnicos y concluye que expulsar a las personas procedentes de esos países no es la solución y aboga por “aniquilar” a pueblos enteros de hasta 24 países de África y Asia. El autor era de nacionalidad alemana, tenía 43 años y se llamaba Tobías R. Fuentes de seguridad citadas por los medios locales informaron de que entre las víctimas hay varias personas de origen extranjero.
El panfleto va acompañado de un vídeo de un minuto y 42 segundos en el que el supuesto asesino aparece con una chaqueta oscura y camisa blanca y en perfecto inglés se dirige “a todos los americanos”. Les advierte de que su país está bajo control de “sociedades secretas invisibles” que controlan la mente y de que existen “bases militares subterráneas donde se abusa y se tortura a niños pequeños”. Tobías R. sostiene que los medios de comunicación de masas “no tienen ni idea” y llama a informarse por otras vías para después pasar a la acción y luchar.
El ataque terrorista de Hanau no es un caso aislado. El pasado octubre, un hombre abrió fuego contra una sinagoga en Halle, al este del país, y mató a dos personas. En junio del año pasado, el político conservador Walter Lubcke fue asesinado a tiros en la terraza de su casa por un ultraderechista, también en el Estado de Hesse. Entre 2000 y 2006, el grupo neonzai NSU mató a nueve extranjeros en el país. A todos ellos se refirió Merkel en su alocución.
El ministro de Interior de Hesse, Peter Beuth, ya había indicado en el Parlamento regional esta mañana que los primeros indicios apuntaban a un acto con una motivación “xenófoba”. Ni la policía ni los servicios secretos internos tenían información previa del autor de la matanza. Los investigadores trabajan con la presunción de que el atacante actuó solo. “Es un acto contra nuestra sociedad libre”, dijo Beuth.
Kebabs y pipas de agua
Los ataques se produjeron de forma sucesiva. El primero tuvo como objetivo un bar de kebabs y pipas de agua llamado Midnight, situado en el centro de la ciudad, donde según los testigos se registraron entre ocho y nueve disparos desde un coche oscuro. El atacante se trasladó después hasta un segundo local, también dedicado al consumo de cachimbas, llamado Arena Bar & Cafe, en la zona de Kesselstadt, contra el que volvió a abrir fuego.
Ambas zonas quedaron acordonadas por los agentes. En las primeras imágenes difundidas se puede ver un Mercedes gris claro, cubierto por una manta térmica forense y rodeado de cristales rotos, además de ambulancias. La policía de Hesse desplegó a numerosos agentes y también participó en las labores de búsqueda un helicóptero. Agentes del Estado de Baviera se desplazaron también hasta la zona.
El alcalde de Hanau, el socialdemócrata Claus Kaminsky, aseguró sentirse “muy afectado” y pidió a los ciudadanos que “no contribuyan a alimentar las especulaciones. La policía debe ahora clarificar la situación y hasta entonces, debemos ser prudentes”.
