El 18 de julio de 1994 cambió la vida.
Para la Argentina que volvió a demostrar su fragilidad en la defensa de sus habitantes, tal como había sucedido dos años antes cuando la Embajada de Israel ya había sufrido el primer atentado.
Para la comunidad judía que tuvo que comenzar a convivir con pilotes y extrema seguridad en instituciones y templos.
Y le cambió la vida a 85 familias que perdieron un ser querido. Una de ellas es la familia Czyzewski. El domingo 17 de julio a la tarde se juntaron todos para ver la final del Mundial entre Brasil e Italia. Al otro día comenzaban las vacaciones de invierno y Paola, de 21 años, fue a la AMIA a colaborar. A las 9.53 de la mañana del 18 de julio de 1994 les cambió la vida. Luis, el papá de Paola, accedió a una entrevista exclusiva con Vis á Vis para hablar de lo que sucedía en su vida hasta un segundo antes de ese maldito minuto 53.
- Queremos hablar del 18 de julio de 1994 para atrás. ¿Cómo era tu vida?
Yo conocí a Ana, mi esposa, por amigos comunes que teníamos en la facultad.
Ella se había recibido de contadora en la Universidad del Nordeste, ya que es nacida en la Provincia de Corrientes. Había venido a Buenos Aires a hacer el doctorado en Ciencias Económicas en la Universidad de Buenos Aires.
Yo estaba en la mitad de la carrera cuando nos conocimos y ella ya estaba recibida. Eso me producía una notoria incomodidad, tanto es así que desde que nos conocimos yo no reprobé ninguna materia hasta recibirme.
Cuando terminé la carrera decidimos casarnos y tuvimos que decidir si nos casábamos en Corrientes o en la Capital. No hace falta pensar mucho para darse cuenta dónde fue.
Recuerdo que viajaron a Corrientes para estar junto a nosotros algunos tíos y una pareja de amigos, Alberto y Elda, que hoy después de mas de 50 años seguimos en contacto.
Luego llegaron los chicos, el primero fue un varón, Marcelo y luego dos nenas, Paola y Andrea.

- ¿Cómo era Paola?
Físicamente era la más chica de nuestros hijos. Marcelo y Andrea siempre fueron más altos que ella. Desde chica demostraba tener un carácter fuerte y decidido, típico de la hija del medio. Muy independiente y era la que menos trabajo nos daba con el estudio, ya que en muy contadas ocasiones pedía ayuda y no era necesario seguirla para que haga la tarea.
Cuando entró en la escuela secundaria, decidió que sea en la ORT, donde en el año que ella entró se habilitó la carrera de Perito Mercantil. Fue parte de la primera promoción en esa carrera.
En la ORT se relacionó con un grupo de amigas que se denominaron a ellas mismas “las chicas”, y hoy el recuerdo de ese grupo se puede ver en una placa que colocaron ellas en la lápida de Paola, en donde se menciona que nunca la van a olvidar.
Paola tenía una característica en lo que se refiere a las habilidades para los deportes, era bastante poco dotada, pero tenía algo no común para una chica en esa época que ahora es menos extraño: jugaba al futbol y a veces se trenzaba con varones en ese juego.

Cuando los chicos crecieron unos años nos asociamos a Macabi, en donde se desarrollaron, crecieron y pasaron por los grupos hasta terminar el curso de líderes.
Todos nuestros hijos hicieron ese recorrido que terminaba en el viaje a Israel en lo que era en ese entonces el Plan Tapúz.
La única de nuestros chicos que fue Madrijá en el curso de líderes fue Paola. Eso le duró solo un año.
Tengo un recuerdo de esa experiencia y de los consejos que le dimos a Paola cuando le tocó ir a Macabilandia a cargo de un grupo de chicos. Le dijimos que era una responsabilidad y que debía estar muy atenta a que ningún chico regrese averiado o que tenga algún problema.
Cuando regresaron la fuimos a esperar a que llegue el micro y cuando llegó todos los chicos bajaron contentos y Paola no bajaba. Fue la última en bajar del micro y cuando la pudimos ver tenía un pie vendado por un esguince que había sufrido.
Los chicos regresaron perfecto y el problema lo tuvo Paola.
- ¿Qué es lo que más te gustaba de ella?
Indudablemente su concepto de la responsabilidad en lo que encaraba, su contracción al estudio y la seriedad con que tomaba las cosas que debía hacer. Cuando se proponía algo, debía salir bien, y si no salía como ella se proponía, hacerlo nuevamente hasta quedar satisfecha del resultado. Su carácter hacía que sea la que se destacara y también sus hermanos aceptaban ese liderazgo. Sobre todo cuando por alguna causa, Ana tenía algo que hacer, Paola era el reemplazo natural en las tareas de la casa y sus hermanos muy contentos que así sea.

- ¿Vos y tu mujer trabajaban en AMIA?
Ana y yo trabajábamos en AMIA y nuestro trabajo era la auditoria de la institución.
Teníamos asignada una oficina en el segundo piso del edificio, y el trabajo cotidiano era ejercido por Ana, que iba todos los días. Mi trabajo era mas de asesoramiento en temas puntuales por lo que iba al edificio solo cuando tenía que ver o compartir alguno de esos temas.
Obviamente, como en todos los órdenes, la tarea de cada persona se ejercía sin los elementos tecnológicos que hay hoy en día. El contacto personal era mucho más fuerte que en estos tiempos, por lo que el vínculo era mas estrecho.
El contacto con las autoridades de la institución también tenía la misma característica, y aún hoy el vínculo personal nuestro con muchos de los directivos de esa época es cotidiano y estrecho.

- ¿La comunidad judía tenía tanta exposición mediática previa a los atentados como si después la tuvo?
Es evidente que a partir del Atentado, AMIA pasó a tener una exposición mediática excepcional, lo que no siempre fue ni es bueno, ya que estar en los medios hace que la privacidad de la actividad institucional y las opiniones de sus directivos deje de ser interna de la institución y muchas veces pase a formar parte la opinión pública. También puede suceder que se pueda dejar de cumplir solo con el objeto social y pasar a ser parte, voluntariamente o no de sus directivos, de la actividad política extra institucional y comunitaria.
También puede suceder que la exposición mediática de la institución puede hacer que sus directivos puedan cometer el error de creer ser parte de un entorno distinto del institucional y comunitario, lo que muchas veces puede resultar inadecuado.

- ¿Cómo lo pudieron sobrellevar familiarmente?
Siempre decimos en nuestra familia que la situación por la que nos tocó pasar no se supera, se aprende a convivir con lo que la tragedia nos dejó.
No hay un procedimiento, una instrucción, un libro o una persona que pueda decir o aconsejar cómo asumir la vida diaria para sobrellevar esa situación. Cada uno lo hace como puede y si tiene ayuda de su familia, de su entorno de amigos o psicológica, bienvenido sea si sirve.
Nosotros sabemos que desde el día que Paola murió, vamos a cargar con una mochila que la vamos a llevar puesta mientras sigamos viviendo. Hay que aprender a vivir acompañado de esa mochila.
En nuestra casa hemos hecho ese aprendizaje y seguimos adelante.

- ¿Cómo está compuesta hoy tu familia?
Hoy, por suerte, nuestra familia se amplió mucho. Tenemos siete nietos que nos hacen disfrutar de ellos y, como dicen los que saben, somos felices cuando los tenemos cerca y estamos con ellos. Algunos de los nietos ya son grandes y cuesta un poco más juntarnos, pero lo podemos hacer.
Cinco de nuestros nietos viven lejos, pero por suerte existen los medios para estar en contacto electrónico, cosa que pasa casi todos los días, y eso nos gratifica.
- ¿Qué esperas para el futuro?
Que mis nietos se puedan desarrollar mejor que nosotros, eso en lo humano. Siento que los nietos mayores, que saben qué es lo que sucedió en la familia, nos admiran por la pelea que estamos dando para que la impunidad no le gane mas a la verdad. Eso no tiene precio.
En lo que se refiere al país, ojalá se pueda encontrar el camino para que la justicia llegue. Que la impunidad no sea moneda corriente y que mis hijos y nietos puedan vivir en un país mejor que el que nos tocó vivir a nosotros. Un país mas justo.
Ojalá, Luis, ojalá.
