En Michigan declararon a Rashida Tlaib ganadora de la carrera por el decimotercer distrito del congreso de Michigan. Por su parte, La diputada Ilhan Omar (D-MN) ganó el martes la reelección en el 5º distrito de Minnesota
A Tlaib, la eligieron por primera vez en 2018, se proyecta que derrotará al retador republicano David Dudenhoefer por un amplio margen. Con el 40% de los votos contados, Tlaib lidera a Dudenhoefer con el 67,1%, o 84.690 votos, al 28,8% o 36.364 votos.
Acusó al gobierno del primer ministro Benjamin Netanyahu de “violaciones de derechos humanos” y defendió el movimiento de Boicot, Desinversión y Sanciones (BDS). Lo calificó como “un boicot” que “critica las políticas racistas de Israel”.
La congresista de Minnesota Ilhan Omar es la ganadora en el 5º distrito del congreso de Minnesota.

Omar derrotó a su contrincante republicana Lacy Johnson al conseguir el 65,6% de los votos, comparado con el 25,2% de Johnson.
Omar es conocida por sus declaraciones controvertidas sobre Israel. La criticaron el año pasado después de sugerir en Twitter que los republicanos la atacaban a instancias del lobby pro-israelí AIPAC.
El pasado septiembre, Ilhan Omar calificó la “existencia” del Primer Ministro Benjamín Netanyahu como un problema, en una entrevista con la CBS.
Un mes antes, Israel prohibió a Ilhan Omar y a su compañera congresista musulmana Rashida Tlaib entrar en el país debido a su apoyo al BDS.
El año pasado, la congresista criticó al Primer Ministro Benjamín Netanyahu en una entrevista con las noticias del Canal 12 de Israel, argumentando que criticar las políticas de Israel no es ser antisemita.
