Un funcionario israelí le dijo al diario The New York Times que el mundo debería estar agradecido a Israel por la eliminación de Mohsen Fakhrizadeh. Era considerado como el cerebro del programa nuclear militar iraní. El gobierno de Netanyahu no se adjudicó la autoría de la operación.

El funcionario pasó años monitoreando las andanzas de Fakhrizadeh. También aseguró que Israel tomará todas las medidas que sean necesarias contra el programa atómico de la República Islámica.

Bruce Reidel, ex oficial de la Central de Inteligencia Americana (CIA) y actual investigador del Instituto Brookings le dijo al periódico que estaba asombrado por la capacidad de Israel de golpear contra personajes claves en territorio enemigo.

“No tiene precedentes”, apuntó Reidel. “Y los iraníes parecen carecer de la eficacia para impedirlo”.

Reidel destacó los lazos de Israel con los países vecinos a Irán, tales como Azerbaiyán, para el monitoreo y el reclutamiento de agentes. También indicó que el uso de drones de fabricación israelí durante la reciente guerra con Armenia es un indicativo de esa estrecha relación.
