Ariel Cohen Imach, director de Vaad Hajinuj: «Las familias y los chicos quieren que las escuelas estén abiertas»

En una semana plagada de incertidumbres por las nuevas restricciones del Gobierno Nacional y la decisión del Gobierno de la Ciudad de mantener las escuelas abiertas, Vis á Vis dialogó con Ariel Cohen Imach, director del Departamento de Educación de AMIA (Vaad Hajinuj), para poder entender la realidad de las instituciones de la Red Escolar Judía.

«En los chicos y familias, a comienzos de este año lectivo se vio un gran entusiasmo por el reencuentro», expresó. Además, agregó: «Las escuelas están diseñadas para que lo virtual acompañe y no reemplace a lo presencial».

  • ¿Cómo están atravesando desde Vaad Hajinuj este momento de incertidumbre que se está viviendo en la educación?

Con la enorme responsabilidad de acompañar a las escuelas, representarlas y defender sus intereses ante los organismos oficiales y juntas de asociaciones de escuelas, y generar espacios (reuniones, conversaciones, envío de información) para informar, intercambiar opiniones entre directores/as y propiciar la reflexión conjunta entre ellos.

  • ¿Cuál es el mensaje que se les da a las escuelas?

Acompañamiento, información, contención, es lo mejor que podemos brindarles en este momento. Con los directores y directoras estamos en sesión permanente, reuniéndonos seguido y compartiendo información minuto a minuto, a veces anticipando lo que aún no trascendió. Esta semana con el retorno judicializado de la presencialidad estuvimos conectados hasta altas horas de la noche y fuimos compartiendo información que no era pública, a la que pudimos acceder por representar a la Red en el Consejo Consultivo de la DGEGP (Dirección General de Educación de Gestión Privada de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires). Hacemos lo mejor que podemos nuestra tarea de defender los intereses de las escuelas.

  • En caso de que se determine que cada escuela decidirá si abrirá o no sus puertas, ¿la red escolar judía mantendrá una línea unificada o queda a criterio de cada escuela?

Desde el Vaad Hajinuj propiciamos espacios donde se reflexiona en común y las escuelas a veces se fortalecen en sus decisiones sabiendo lo que van pensando las demás. Sin embargo, las escuelas son diversas en cuanto a la población que atienden, características de sus equipos docentes, posibilidades edilicias que garantizan en mayor o menor medida la ventilación y el distanciamiento, posibilidades de una educación efectiva a distancia, número de personas contagiadas y burbujas aisladas, etc. Esto hace que muchas veces la misma decisión no sea posible o conveniente para todas. Por otra parte, como concepto general, las escuelas son autónomas; nosotros podemos compartir información y espacios de intercambio, a veces recomendaciones, pero no les indicamos qué hacer.

  • ¿Cuál es el impacto que se ve hoy en día tras lo sucedido del año pasado?

En los chicos y familias, a comienzos de este año lectivo se vio un gran entusiasmo por el reencuentro. Las familias y los chicos quieren que las escuelas estén abiertas, compartir con sus compañeros, y si bien es muy bueno que haya elementos digitales en la educación y en el trabajo sobre los contenidos, ello no reemplaza al encuentro presencial sino que lo complementa. Creo que en algunas áreas de aprendizaje, el impacto de la falta de escolaridad presencial en 2020 es mayor.

  • ¿Hubo deserciones?

Según los datos de que disponemos hasta ahora, el número global de alumnos de la Red no bajó. Sí bajó particularmente en algunas escuelas, pero considerando toda la Red, se mantiene o sube levemente.

  • Hay familias que consideran que no tienen que mandar a sus hijos al colegio y otras que sí, ¿cómo cree que debe manejarse esta situación?

La situación actual, me parece, invita a reducir la conflictividad. Las escuelas, manteniendo las clases presenciales, creo que pueden ser comprensivas con las familias que decidan no mandar a sus hijos (que hasta donde sé, son una muy pequeña minoría).

  • ¿Reciben informes de lo que sucede en cada escuela?

Tenemos contacto con directores, directores de área judaica, directores de nivel, asesorías ofrecidas a todas las escuelas, proyectos y capacitaciones. En todos los casos, estos servicios se brindan a las escuelas que desean recibirlos. Por ello, con la mayoría tenemos mucho contacto y con otras tenemos poca frecuencia de intercambio. Pero todas ellas participaron en 2020 en algunas de las asesorías, actividades, capacitaciones y/o proyectos de Vaad Hajinuj.

  • ¿Cómo evalúa la educación virtual? ¿Es perjudicial para el aprendizaje?

Nuestras escuelas están diseñadas para ser presenciales. La educación a distancia tiene otra lógica, requiere dispositivos especiales y un pensamiento que acompañe la propuesta. Lo que se hizo en 2020 fue una “migración forzosa” a lo virtual, que hubo que hacerla de manera rápida e inesperada. Las escuelas obtuvieron buenos resultados dada la situación, pero su diseño es para funcionar de manera presencial y que lo virtual complemente y enriquezca la oferta presencial.

  • Hay posibilidades de que en el corto plazo se proponga una «presencialidad administrada», mitad virtual, mitad presencial. ¿Cómo lo ve?

Puede ser una opción viable para este año. De hecho, la alternancia entre presencial y virtual ya sucede porque hay docentes o burbujas aislados, porque no están habilitados los comedores, por la indicación de horarios de ingreso y salida escalonados y por la dimensión y ventilación de las aulas, que a veces no pueden alojar a todo el alumnado a la vez.

  • ¿Las escuelas de la Red Escolar judía se adaptaron a la virtualidad? 

Sí, como ya dije lo hicieron muy bien, pero están diseñadas para que lo virtual acompañe y no reemplace a lo presencial. Con las escuelas abiertas y clases presenciales los aprendizajes son más sólidos, al menos en los niveles obligatorios de enseñanza.

  • ¿Hablan con directores o autoridades israelíes? ¿Toman como ejemplo lo sucedido allí?

Sí, participamos en foros de intercambio y tenemos contactos con varias instituciones israelíes. De hecho, en el Encuentro Internacional de Educación Judía que hicimos en julio de 2020 participaron tres directoras israelíes que nos iluminaron con sus experiencias.

  • ¿Alguna reflexión final?

Creo que la Red Escolar Judía comprende muy buenas escuelas, que están dirigidas por directores/as reflexivos/as y en muchos casos de un nivel superlativo, y que tienen en general docentes preparados/as y comprometidos/as. Creo que nuestras escuelas están muy cerca de las familias, tienen mucha comunicación con ellas y toman en cuenta su feedback permanente. Junto con ello, la incertidumbre permanente, las cientos de decisiones rápidas que se toman diariamente (por ejemplo, si aislar burbujas ante casos que están en el límite) sin duda afecta en parte su funcionamiento. Me parece que los padres de la Red Escolar Judía tenemos que tener paciencia en este contexto particular y apoyar a las escuelas que hacen lo mejor que se puede en el marco de la situación actual.

Desde los distintos grupos de Padres Organizados de las Escuelas Judías de la Argentina unificamos este reclamo y pedimos a los directivos que lo transmitan a las autoridades correspondientes. La presencialidad NO se negocia. Primero la educación. Primero, los/as niños/as y adolescentes.
