Las Brigadas Izz ad Din al Qassam, el brazo armado de Hamás, revelaron cómo se ven a los terroristas en el interior de su red de túneles en Gaza. Lo «curioso» fue que la difusión del video se llevó a cabo en medio del cese al fuego que finalmente se concretó.

Según las cuadrillas militares, los momentos que se aprecian en el video se captaron durante la escalada en la que emprendieron una ola de ataques con cohetes contra Israel, campaña de agresión que los grupos terroristas denominaron “Batalla de la Espada de Jerusalén“.

En las imágenes se aprecia a terroristas mientras transitan por los túneles portando armas de alto calibre. Se congregan en un reducido espacio y escriben mensajes en el que se muestra la aparente fecha de la grabación: martes 18 de mayo.

Conocido coloquialmente por Israel como “el metro” de Hamás en Gaza, se trata de cientos de kilómetros de túneles subterráneos bajo el territorio del enclave palestino, algunos de ellos a 20 metros de profundidad.

La red de túneles fue uno de los principales objetivos de Israel con su Operación Guardián de los Muros que emprendió militarmente en contra de Hamás y otros grupos terroristas durante los 11 días que duró la escalada.

Hamás, por su parte, invirtió decenas de millones de dólares al mes en la excavación de túneles internos y ofensivos. El costo de un kilómetro de túneles se estima en alrededor de 500.000 dólares, según Ynet.

Los túneles incluyen infraestructura eléctrica, baños, duchas, salas de ocio y puntos de encuentro táctico para los terroristas. Además, satisfacen varias necesidades de Hamás, incluidas operaciones de contraofensiva, infiltración de daños por parte de Israel a civiles, operación de misiles antitanques y escuadrones de ingeniería y francotiradores, preparación de fuego de mortero y asistencia al frente interno durante el combate.
