Bajo el lema #MusiciansForPalestine («Músicos por Palestina»), un grupo de 600 músicos pidieron en una carta abierta el boicot a Israel.

Entre los firmantes destacados aparecen Roger Waters de Pink Floyd; Rage Against the Machine; Serj Tankian de System of a Down; Run the Jewels; Godspeed You! Black Emperor; Black Thought y Questlove de The Roots; Thurston Moore de Sonic Youth; Julian Casablancas de The Strokes; Chromeo; Nicolas Jaar; Noname; y Owen Pallett.

En el comunicado, el grupo denunció ataques israelíes contra los palestinos. A su vez, exigió «justicia, dignidad y el derecho a la autodeterminación para el pueblo palestino y todos los que luchan contra el despojo colonial y la violencia en todo el planeta».

La carta también afirma que «la complicidad con los crímenes de guerra israelíes se encuentra en el silencio, y hoy el silencio no es una opción. El brutal bombardeo israelí de la sitiada Gaza se cobró más de 245 vidas en las últimas semanas. Los residentes de Sheikh Jarrah en la Jerusalén ocupada se ven continuamente obligados a abandonar sus hogares. A millones de palestinos refugiados les niegan el derecho al retorno».

Además, dice: «Llamamos a todos los gobiernos para que dejen de financiar los recursos y tecnologías que respaldan al estado israelí y sus crímenes de guerra».

“Le pedimos que se una a nosotros con su nombre para negarse a actuar en las instituciones culturales cómplices de Israel y mantenerse firme en su apoyo al pueblo palestino y su derecho humano a la soberanía y la libertad”, se lee sobre el final. «Creemos que esto es crucial para vivir algún día en un mundo sin segregación ni apartheid», concluye.

  1. ¿Antisemitismo? ¿por qué antisemitismo? Esos 600 músicos no piden boicotear a los judíos del mundo, sino al Estado de Israel, porque está haciendo con los palestinos lo mismo que los nazis hicieron en su día con nuestro pueblo, masacrarlos. La mayoría de los judíos del mundo ni siquiera viven en Israel ni tampoco desean ningún mal al pueblo palestino. ¿Por qué algunos siguen confundiendo malintencionadamente antisemitismo con antisionismo? ¡Son dos conceptos distintos! La mayoría de los judíos no somos sionistas y no nos sentimos ofendidos por esta solicitud de boicot. Por favor, dejen de confundir deliberadamente a la gente.
