El ejército interceptó a un sospechoso que intentó nadar desde el Líbano hasta Israel a través del mar durante la noche, afirmaron las Fuerzas de Defensa de Israel (FDI).

Los vigías de las FDI detectaron al sospechoso y se enviaron buques de guerra en la frontera Líbano – Israel por agua.

Las tropas lo arrestaron cerca del punto donde cruzó la frontera del agua, dijeron las FDI en un comunicado. Israel y el Líbano no tienen relaciones diplomáticas y técnicamente se encuentran en estado de guerra, con una frontera marítima en disputa.

Se descubrió luego de su detención que el sospechoso estaba desarmado y se lo llevaron para interrogarlo.

Fue la cuarta vez en los últimos días que infiltrados prueban las fronteras de Israel.

El jueves pasado, los soldados arrestaron a dos sospechosos que cruzaron al norte de Israel desde el Líbano, luego de una persecución de horas, en medio de crecientes tensiones a lo largo de la inquieta frontera norte.

Ambos parecían ser inmigrantes del Líbano, que entraron a Israel con la esperanza de encontrar trabajo. Fueron interrogados por las fuerzas de seguridad israelíes, dijo el ejército.

El Líbano se encuentra en medio de una devastadora crisis económica y política que vio a su moneda tocar fondo, lo que envió a las masas a las calles a protestar.
