Durante primera mitad de 2021, el Reino Unido tuvo récord de antisemitismo con un aumento de casi el 500% en incidentes relacionados con la escuela.
El crecimiento significativo se produjo en gran parte en mayo, durante los combates entre Israel y Hamás, según estadísticas del Community Security Trust (CST).
La CST es la organización encargada de brindar seguridad a la comunidad judía del Reino Unido. El documento detalla 1.308 incidentes antisemitas entre enero y junio, el número más alto jamás registrado.
Los incidentes de antisemitismo notificados que involucraron a escuelas, maestros y estudiantes del Reino Unido aumentaron de 22 durante la primera mitad de 2020 a 130 en el mismo período de 2021, casi un 500% más.
La gran mayoría de esos casos tuvieron lugar en escuelas no religiosas, un 62% más que el año pasado.

Además, los niveles de antisemitismo experimentados por la comunidad judía fueron «peores que cualquier cosa vista en las últimas décadas», afirmó el director ejecutivo de CST, Mark Gardner.
Por su parte, los incidentes relacionados con escuelas ocurrieron en mayo, durante la reapertura después del cierre de COVID y el conflicto Israel-Hamás.
Gardner calificó de «vergonzoso» los ataques contra los judíos más jóvenes. También se comprometió a seguir haciendo «todo lo que podamos para proteger a nuestras comunidades judías y darles la seguridad y el consuelo que necesitan».
Casi la mitad de todos los incidentes de enero a junio ocurrieron durante mayo. La cantidad de incidentes ese mes, 639, es la cifra mensual más alta registrada por el CST.
