Netflix confirmó que habrá segunda temporada de «My Unorthodox Life» («Mi vida heterodoxa»), la serie que se estrenó en julio de 2021.

Por el momento no se revelaron detalles sobre el contenido de la segunda temporada o cualquier fecha de lanzamiento aproximada.

La serie sigue a Julia Haart, quien dejó la comunidad ortodoxa en la que creció en Monsey, Nueva York, para convertirse en directora ejecutiva de la agencia de modelos de moda Elite World Group. En el transcurso de nueve episodios, ella y sus cuatro hijos luchan con cómo adaptar sus diferentes niveles de práctica judía en la sociedad secular de NY.

Haart muestra su vida desde la intimidad del hogar o su cotidianeidad laboral, así como el vínculo con sus hijos y demás familiares. Además, relata el proceso que debió transitar y las dificultades que enfrentó en su camino. Esto se observa mayormente en las diferencias que mantiene con sus hijos, quienes, en distintos niveles, continúan observando preceptos del judaísmo.

Algunos críticos ven el programa como una difamación maliciosa contra toda la comunidad ortodoxa. A su vez, señalan que Haart apoya y promueve a quienes buscan abandonarla. Incluso hay mujeres ortodoxas que en redes sociales contrarrestaron la representación de la ortodoxia que ofrece el programa compartiendo sus propias historias de vida.

Pero, por su parte, la protagonista manifestó que su posición radica en eliminar el fundamentalismo en la religión. Así es como, por ejemplo, en la serie se observa que siempre hay opciones de comida kosher en la mesa.

«Antes de juzgar el programa, ¿quizás quieran ver el programa?», expresó Haart a la JTA tras el debut en julio. «Debido a que tenía la palabra ‘poco ortodoxa’, la gente hizo miles de suposiciones sin realmente tomarse el tiempo para escuchar lo que realmente tengo que decir».

El título «My Unorthodox Life» hace referencia al éxito ganador del Emmy «Unorthodox» («Poco Ortodoxa»), también en Netflix. La serie que protagoniza la israelí Shira Haas se basa en la historia de Deborah Feldman. Ella también abandonó una comunidad jasídica de Nueva York para emprender una nueva vida.
