La jefa de Derechos Humanos de ONU, Michelle Bachelet, denunció a Israel por incluir seis grupos palestinos que promueven el terrorismo en su lista negra.

Bachelet declaró que la decisión de Israel de ilegalizar seis organizaciones de derechos palestinos por sus presuntos vínculos con el grupo terrorista Frente Popular para la Liberación de Palestina (FPLP) era un ataque a los defensores de los DD.HH., a las libertades de asociación, opinión y expresión y al derecho a la participación pública. Además, pidió que la medida se revocara inmediatamente.

A su vez, la ex presidenta chilena afirmó que la legislación antiterrorista no debe aplicarse a las actividades legítimas de DD.HH. y ayuda humanitaria.

“Las organizaciones se enfrentan a consecuencias de gran alcance como resultado de esta decisión arbitraria, al igual que las personas que las financian y trabajan con ellas. El trabajo crucial que realizan para miles de palestinos corre el riesgo de que se detenga o restrinja”, manifestó.

El viernes por la tarde, el ministro de Defensa israelí, Benny Gantz, anunció que seis grupos de la sociedad civil palestina fueron designados como organizaciones terroristas, afirmando que trabajan en nombre del FPLP.

La lista estaba compuesta por la Unión de Comités de Mujeres Palestinas; ADDAMEER – Asociación de Apoyo a los Prisioneros y Derechos Humanos; Centro Bisan de Investigación y Desarrollo; Organización al-Haq; Defensa de los Niños Internacional – Palestina; y la Unión de Comités de Trabajo Agrícola.

Bachelet, por su parte, dijo que la decisión tendrá “un efecto escalofriante” para los defensores de los derechos humanos.

“Reclamar derechos ante la ONU u otro organismo internacional no es un acto de terrorismo. Defender los derechos de las mujeres en los territorios palestinos ocupados no es terrorismo. Proporcionar ayuda legal a los palestinos detenidos no es terrorismo”, aseveró la chilena.

A lo largo de los años, el Consejo de DD.HH. de la ONU señaló obsesivamente a Israel para que se lo investigue. Pero, al mismo tiempo, suele ignorar los abusos generalizados en otros países.

El mes pasado, el organismo votó a favor de crear una investigación internacional abierta sobre el trato que Israel da a los palestinos.

La Alta Comisionada de la ONU para los DD.HH. añadió que no sepresentaron pruebas que respalden las acusaciones contra los seis grupos palestinos.

En su anuncio del viernes, el Ministerio de Defensa aún no ha aportado pruebas concretas que demuestren una conexión directa entre esas organizaciones y el FPLP.

La medida provocó una rápida y feroz reacción, con palestinos, organizaciones internacionales y políticos estadounidenses de izquierda que la criticaron.
