Un congresista republicano de Ohio se disculpó por comparar los mandatos de vacunas contra el COVID con las medidas de los nazis durante el Holocausto.

“Suceden cosas malas cuando los gobiernos deshumanizan a las personas”, expresó Warren Davidson en una disculpa vía Twitter. “A veces hay un siguiente paso: segregarlos sistemáticamente. En su publicación original, el congresista adjuntó una foto de una tarjeta de estado de salud de la época de los nazis y citó un tweet de la alcaldesa de Washington DC, Muriel Bowser, que exigía prueba de vacunación contra el COVID para los residentes de la ciudad que salen al aire libre desde el sábado.

Además, en el mismo hilo de Twitter, Davidson se refirió a un artículo de opinión reciente que argumentaba que burlarse de las personas que mueren de coronavirus porque no estaban vacunadas es un fenómeno social saludable. “La deshumanización y la segregación están en marcha”, dijo.

Igualmente, no presentó ninguna prueba de que algún funcionario del gobierno hiciera el mismo argumento.

Davidson, por su parte, recibió fuertes críticas de grupos judíos y judíos demócratas por su hilo inicial. No es el primer republicano en comparar las medidas de prevención de la pandemia con las prácticas de la Shoá. A principios de esta semana, un concejal republicano de la ciudad de Nueva York también se disculpó después por la comparación.
