Rumania ha incluido desde el actual año escolar una asignatura obligatoria de historia judía y Holocausto, un paso considerado por la comunidad judía local como «asunción real de responsabilidad» del país balcánico en la matanza de cientos de miles de judíos durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
La asignatura, de una hora semanal y obligatoria para todos los estudiantes rumanos de secundaria y grados medios, comenzó el pasado 11 de septiembre y su puesta en marcha fue celebrada esta semana con un acto oficial en Bucarest.
“Rumania no se libró de los efectos trágicos de los vínculos entre el nazismo y el fascismo rumano. Es nuestro deber moral de apoyar y promover la educación sobre la historia judía y el Holocausto”, dijo el primer ministro rumano, Marcel Ciolacu.
El presidente de la Federación de Comunidades Judías de Rumania y diputado en el Parlamento rumano, Silviu Vexler, había impulsado esta nueva asignatura llamada «Historia de los judíos. El Holocausto”.
“La introducción de la asignatura es fundamental”, aseguró Vexler este jueves en declaraciones a EFE en Bucarest.
Se trata de “la primera asunción real de responsabilidad por lo ocurrido durante el Holocausto y el primer reconocimiento pleno de la contribución esencial realizada a lo largo de la historia por las comunidades judías al desarrollo de Rumania”, explicó.
En Rumania y en los territorios vecinos controlados por el entonces régimen militar de Jon Antonescu vivían antes hasta 1940 unos 750.000 judíos, al menos la mitad de ellos fueron deportados y asesinados por los nazis, en colaboración con las autoridades rumanas.
Vexler destacó “el deseo de que el presente y el futuro estén definidos por la normalidad, la necesidad de que las generaciones actuales y futuras tengan la oportunidad de aprender de lo que sucedió en el pasado para poder construir el mundo que las rodea”.
Por su parte, la profesora de Filosofía Felicia Walman, de la Universidad de Bucarest, recordó a EFE que “Rumania tiene una tradición de antisemitismo político desde el siglo XIX«.
Con la introducción de la nueva asignatura, los legisladores del futuro “ya no podrán decir que no conocían la historia”, dijo.
