Las Fuerzas de Defensa de Israel (FDI) informaron el jueves que están realizando activamente búsquedas de cadáveres de rehenes en cementerios ubicados en la Franja de Gaza.
El anuncio se produce en respuesta a informes de habitantes de Gaza que afirmaban que los soldados habían causado destrucción en un cementerio en Khan Younes.
En una declaración proporcionada al canal NBC, los uniformados aclararon que las operaciones de búsqueda en los cementerios se basan en datos de inteligencia.
«Las FDI están llevando a cabo operaciones de búsqueda en cementerios de la Franja de Gaza para localizar los cuerpos de los secuestrados y devolverlos a Israel», explicó el portavoz de las FDI.
El militar agregó: «Estamos llevando a cabo estas actividades siguiendo información específica de los servicios de inteligencia, que indican la posibilidad de que se hayan encontrado cuerpos en estos lugares«.
Además, mencionó que «las operaciones de identificación de los cadáveres se llevan a cabo con todas las precauciones debidas a las personas enterradas y a los lugares y aseguró que después volverán a «enterrar cuidadosamente los cadáveres que no son identificados como de rehenes«.
El portavoz de las FDI también explicó que tales operaciones de búsqueda no habrían sido necesarias si Hamás «no hubiera tomado la decisión irresponsable de secuestrar a hombres, mujeres y niños«.
Hasta el momento, 136 rehenes siguen en manos de Hamás. En un comunicado del miércoles, las FDI mencionaron que carecen de información precisa sobre la situación de los rehenes, pero afirmaron su compromiso de hacer todo lo posible para asegurar su liberación.
