Cada 27 de enero, rememorando el Día Internacional de Conmemoración en Memoria de las Víctimas del Holocausto, el Congreso Judío Mundial junto al Congreso Judío Latinoamericano lanzan la campaña #WeRemember.
El 27 de enero de 1945 el Ejército Rojo ingresó a Auschwitz, encontrándose con las mayores atrocidades perpetradas por el ser humano. Se encontraron con 7.000 sobrevivientes, débiles, enfermos, desnutridos, pero que se convertirían en las personas que hoy son el símbolo de la fortaleza del pueblo judío. Gracias a ellos y a su legado, la memoria persiste y es que cada 27 de enero decimos WE REMEMBER – RECORDEMOS.
La campaña #WeRemember invita a la sociedad a involucrarse en la memoria activa. La consigna es sencilla pero enormemente simbólica: escribir “#WeRemember” en una hoja de papel, tomarse una fotografía con el cartel y compartirla en redes sociales. Cada vez son más las personas que se suman a recordar. A lo largo de los últimos años la campaña ha alcanzado a millones de personas, contando con la participación de líderes mundiales como el Papa Francisco, Luis Almagro, António Guterres, presidentes Latinoamericanos, organizaciones, artistas y deportistas, entre otros.

Este año el pueblo judío se siente especialmente interpelado a la hora de recordar a las víctimas que fueron asesinadas en nombre del odio. Hoy We Remember se siente más cerca que cualquier otro año. Recordar el pasado para proteger el futuro y el presente, es el lema que encabeza esta edición de la campaña.
Esta campaña masiva le recuerda al mundo lo que puede pasar cuando avanza el odio y reina la indiferencia. Por eso es fundamental que este año se renueve el compromiso de millones de personas y se comprometan a no olvidar el pasado.
