Año tras año y desde hace varios siglos los judíos alrededor del mundo llevamos a cabo el Seder de Pesaj, esa reunión habitualmente familiar, en la que se reúnen todas las generaciones presentes para volver a relatar la gesta histórica, simbólica y espiritual que dio origen a lo que luego fue el Pueblo Judío.
En tierra de Egipto vivían bajo el yugo de la esclavitud los hebreos, aquellos descendientes de Abraham, Isaac, Jacob y sus 12 hijos.
El Pueblo Judío como tal se configuro tras la salida ansiada y forzada, liderada por un Moises con mas dudas que certezas.
Hijo de un matrimonio de la tribu de Levi (uno de los 12 hijos de Jacob), criado en palacio como el nieto del Faraón, exiliado por haber cometido un crimen y elegido por D-s, con sus dudas y su tartamudez, fue interprete e intermediador de una serie de milagros que permitieron a ese grupo humano devenir en pueblo.
Año tras año relatamos la historia, en tiempo presente, repitiendo el mandato bíblico que nos instruye a contarle a nuestros hijos lo que D-s hizo por cada uno de nosotros, como si hubiéramos sido nosotros quienes salimos de Egipto.
Decimos siempre que el sentido de recordar y relatar en presente y en primera persona es para tener conciencia que no se trata de una historia que le paso a alguien más, sino que cada uno de nosotros es protagonista en primera persona.
¡Cuánta sabiduría encerrada en un mandato que parece a veces tan poco real!

Mas de uno habrá confrontado en algún momento con la pregunta de si el texto bíblico es un documento histórico o interpretativo, si D-s realmente dicto esas palabras o fueron traducción humana, que cual es el sentido de seguir cumpliendo estas normas que pueden parecer ajenas, y tantos otros cuestionamientos que habrán existido y seguirán existiendo a lo largo del tiempo, verdad?
Mas de uno se encuentra hoy preguntando donde esta este D-s que se supone nos protege y nos saco con mano firme de aquel Egipto.
Algunas familias se ajustan al relato literal de la Hagada, el texto guía, con más o menos extensión. Algunos otros fuimos incluyendo elementos novedosos y significativos, habilitando la flexibilidad que muchos de nuestros sabios y maestros supieron ofrecer al entender que la Hagada, que conocemos hoy no es un texto canonizado, sino que es una construcción tradicional que fue alimentada a lo largo de los siglos tomando ideas y experiencias de las distintas épocas y geografías, más siempre respetando las ideas rectoras principales: recordamos la esclavitud y la liberación. Nos hacemos preguntas y las respondemos. Utilizamos símbolos de todo tipo, cantamos, narramos, nos divertimos.
Y por encima de todo eso ratificamos una y otra vez la omnipresencia de un D-s que nos acompaña, nos guía, nos protege y provoca milagros en nuestro favor.
Creemos en este D-s al que no podemos ver ni oír, pero nos decimos que podemos sentir, cada uno a su manera. La fe en su existencia es el sostén que nos ha acompañado como Pueblo y de manera individual a través de las vicisitudes de la vida, especialmente en los tiempos más terribles.
Y me atrevo a decir que todos hoy coincidimos en que hoy es uno de esos tiempos más terribles.
Una de las preguntas del Seder, que habitualmente cantamos con alegría junto con los pequeños de la casa es ¿Ma Nishtana? ¿Que hace que esta noche sea diferente?

Este año esta pregunta multiplica su pertinencia de manera exponencial. Esta noche es diferente a todas las demás, incluyendo a todos los Pesaj anteriores porque este año no todos están en libertad. Este año volvimos a ser atacados como pueblo. Este año nuevamente estamos en peligro.
Desde el primer Pesaj allá a lo lejos en el tiempo a la fecha hubo muchas oportunidades en las que no todos estaban en libertad, éramos atacados y estábamos en peligro. En cada oportunidad el Pueblo Judío se ocupó de repetir el mandato de contar la historia, confiar en los milagros, y seguir adelante. Somos un pueblo resiliente, valiente y orgulloso y esa es nuestra arma no tan secreta.
Este año hay otra diferencia: Este año nos defendemos. Por primera vez desde el Holocausto y desde la creación el Estado de Israel estamos viviendo un ataque generalizado abierto y sin precedentes en todo el mundo.
Sin embargo, esta vez alzamos la voz y tomamos acción. Este año decimos DAIEINU. Es suficiente.
Lamentablemente no tenemos un Moises que nos guie, ni siquiera un liderazgo colegiado digno de respeto o valor, como lo era Moises con sus hermanos Miriam y Aharon.
Pero si tenemos la conciencia de comunidad y de Pueblo que trasciende a los gobernantes de turno.

Quienes más presencia y participación tienen son los integrantes del Ejercito de Israel. Para ellos todo nuestro agradecimiento. Ellos son la barrera infranqueable que nos protege.
Están también de los familiares de los rehenes, los diversos grupos de ayuda, las personas que alrededor del mundo decidimos levantar la voz, denunciar los abusos, las mentiras y los ataques, portar las cintas amarillas y las chapitas, reclamar por los rehenes y llevar a cabo todas las acciones, grandes y pequeñas, en defensa de nuestra existencia son las que hacen posible que la historia siga siendo contada en presente garantizando así nuestra permanencia en el tiempo.
Somos un Pueblo resiliente. Sabemos resurgir de los escombros, figurada y literalmente. Sabemos navegar las contradicciones, y por encima de todo nuestro motor es elegir la vida.
Se me hace muy difícil este año saludar con el habitual “Jag Sameaj”, que sea una fiesta feliz. Este año no siento que sea una Fiesta Feliz, aunque si es significativa.
Los símbolos de siempre cobran nuevo significado: el agua salada no solo representa el sufrimiento de los esclavos en Egipto, sino que trae presencia a las lágrimas de los rehenes y sus familias, la silla vacía no es solo para Eliahu el profeta, sino para quienes no están presentes y quisiéramos que estén. Los esperamos con el mismo anhelo.
Y por encima de todo, haciendo honor a la frase ya acuñada por Rachel Goldberg-Polin, la mamá de uno de los rehenes aun en cautiverio: la Esperanza es Obligatoria.
Podemos elegir estar simplemente enojados con D-s, con el gobierno, con el enemigo inflexible, y con infinidad de cosas más.
También podemos elegir honrar la vida y nuestra historia, convirtiendo el Seder en plegaria pidiendo por la liberación de los rehenes, el cese de las agresiones y el poder volver a una vida de crecimiento y paz.
Este año no celebramos Pesaj. Lo conmemoramos.
