Un hotel de Noruega se negó a alojar a un turista israelí, alegando un boicot nacional contra el Estado judío que lanzó la Confederación de Sindicatos (LO) del país europeo “por la catastrófica situación en Gaza”.
Al recibir la solicitud del viajero, el hotel, ubicado en el pueblo de Geiranger, uno de los principales destinos turísticos de Escandinavia, indicó que necesitaba consultar con el sindicato para determinar si se permitiría albergarlo, según las nuevas pautas del boicot.
“LO pronto implementará un boicot que afectará a los turistas y productos israelíes debido a la catastrófica situación en Gaza”, se lee en la respuesta del hotel a la solicitud de reserva del turista israelí.
“Debemos informarle que nuestro personal está organizado por el sindicato LO y no romperá el boicot. Tendré que consultar con la organización patronal (NHO), ya que considero que se trata de una situación de fuerza mayor”, agregó el establecimiento.
Según la dirección del hotel, el boicot de la organización se califica como un caso de “fuerza mayor”, una circunstancia imprevista que impide a las partes cumplir con sus obligaciones contractuales y las protege de responsabilidad cuando situaciones excepcionales perturban las expectativas normales.
La respuesta del hotel se compartió en un grupo de Facebook, lo que provocó indignación y una condena generalizada entre sus miembros.

“Como judío que lleva 40 años luchando contra el antisemitismo, nunca había experimentado algo tan impactante. Es como retroceder 85 años en el tiempo, hasta 1940, a la época en que Noruega envió a sus judíos a Auschwitz”, escribió uno de los miembros del grupo en un comentario.
Además, añadió: “Estoy simplemente en shock. Noruega fue el último país de Europa que permitió la entrada a los judíos y ahora cierra sus puertas nuevamente”.
La semana pasada, LO votó a favor de un boicot económico total contra Israel, al tiempo que instó a ordenar al Fondo Global de Pensiones del Gobierno (GPFG) que desinvierta en empresas israelíes, de manera similar a como ordenó la desinversión en empresas rusas después de la invasión de Ucrania en 2022.
A pesar de sus estrechos vínculos con el sindicato LO, el gobierno de Noruega dijo que no impulsaría la desinversión en empresas israelíes, argumentando que es mejor permitir que el Consejo de Ética opere de acuerdo con las pautas aprobadas por el parlamento.
“No planeamos cambiar nuestra estrategia”, afirmó el primer ministro Jonas Gahr Stoere tras la votación de LO.
“Pero espero que Israel esté leyendo que esto (el boicot) es una expresión de una parte significativa de la opinión pública”, agregó.

El grupo terrorista Hamás elogió la decisión de LO de boicotear “la ocupación sionista y prohibir el comercio y la inversión con sus empresas”. Además, calificó la medida como “un paso valiente que encarna una clara alineación con la verdad y la justicia, y defiende los derechos del pueblo palestino”.
El domingo, el GPFG anunció que desinvirtió en Paz Oil Company de Israel: “Al operar infraestructura para el suministro de combustible a los asentamientos israelíes en Cisjordania, Paz contribuye a su perpetuación”, declaró el Consejo de Ética del fondo, organismo de control, en su recomendación de desinversión.
“Los asentamientos se establecieron en violación del derecho internacional, y su perpetuación constituye una violación continua del mismo”, aseveró.
