El presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, dice que “estamos muy cerca” de poner fin a los combates en Gaza con Ha,ás y lograr la paz en el Medio Oriente después de que Hamas presentó su respuesta a su propuesta de poner fin a la guerra y liberar a los rehenes que mantiene.
Hamás acogió con satisfacción partes de la propuesta de Donald Trump, aunque insinuó resistencia respecto de otras secciones e insistió en que se necesitaban negociaciones adicionales para finalizar los términos.
Pero Trump parece estar aceptando de todo corazón la aparente respuesta «Sí, pero…» como una victoria, emitiendo una declaración en video desde el Resolute Desk de la Oficina Oval en la que agradece a todos los países que «me ayudaron a armar esto: Qatar, Turquía, Arabia Saudita, Egipto, Jordania y tantos otros».
«Este es un día importante. Ya veremos cómo se desarrolla todo», dice Donald Trump.
«Tenemos que dejar constancia de la última palabra en términos concretos», añade, reconociendo que aún es necesario celebrar negociaciones posteriores, pese a las celebraciones aparentemente prematuras de Washington.
«Espero que los secuestrados regresen a casa con sus padres», dice, aclarando que algunos de los 48 rehenes volverán a casa en ataúdes, ya que se cree que solo 20 están vivos.
