Luego de años de tensas relaciones entre países de la región con Israel, una cadena de triunfos electorales en países de América Latina encabezados hace dos años por Javier Milei, torció el rumbo.
Las autoridades israelíes creen que, «tras cuatro años de tensas relaciones bajo un gobierno de izquierda, la victoria electoral del conservador Asfura es una buena noticia para las relaciones bilaterales», señaló el portal Ynet.
El sitio aseguró que Sa’ar fue el primer líder internacional en hablar con Asfura tras su elección. Además, durante esa conversación, lo invitó a visitar Israel, una propuesta que, según se confirmó este martes, se concretará en breve.
Asfura es un dirigente político y empresarial de origen palestino. Es el más reciente eslabón de una cadena de triunfos electorales conservadores en América Latina que está favoreciendo un reacercamiento a Israel.
A mediados de diciembre fue el turno de otro candidato pro-israelí, José Antonio Kast, quien se consagró presidente electo de Chile. Sucederá en el cargo al mandatario saliente, Gabriel Boric, ejemplo del grupo de líderes izquierdistas crítico de las políticas de Jerusalén en la región.
Kast y Asfura se sumaron a la figura más destacada de este grupo, el presidente de Argentina, Javier Milei, y a sus colegas de Paraguay, Santiago Peña, y de Bolivia, Rodrigo Paz.
Sa’ar informó que enviará al director general del Ministerio de Exteriores, Eden Bar-Tal, a la toma de posesión del nuevo presidente de Honduras. Eso será a finales de este mes.
