Hay docenas de casos de agresión física contra judíos, incluidos rabinos. Los alumnos judíos han tenido que abandonar las escuelas públicas. La comisionada para antisemitismo de Berlín, Lorenz Korgel, quien fue nombrada en mayo de 2019, advirtió que los judíos que usan kipá en público podrían experimentar ataques frecuentes.

Gideon Joffe, presidente de la comunidad judía de Berlín, dijo que un tercio de los alumnos de la Escuela Superior Judía de Berlín habían sufrido acoso en escuelas públicas no judías. “En el año 2019 nuestra escuela secundaria está llena de refugiados judíos“, dijo. El caso más publicitado de tal antisemitismo ocurrió en 2017 en una escuela pública. Se refería a un niño judío cuyo nombre fue cambiado en los medios por Oscar Michalski. Sus atormentadores eran alumnos de ascendencia árabe y turca. Un estudiante mayor disparó al niño con una pistola de aspecto realista y lo estranguló hasta el punto de inconsciencia.

En agosto de 2019, tumbas de soldados judíos asesinados en la Primera Guerra Mundial fueron desfiguradas en un gran cementerio judío. En el mismo mes, una mujer judía de Berlín recibió una carta con cenizas.

El 25 de septiembre de 2019, tuvo lugar una manifestación pro-palestina en la Puerta de Brandenburgo. Solo unas pocas horas antes, el Senador del Interior de Berlín, Andreas Geisel (SPD), prohibió la participación de dos raperos, Shadi al-Bourini y Shadi al-Najja, una de cuyas canciones incluye las líneas: “Burn Tel Aviv down, queremos quemar Tel Aviv” y, sobre los judíos: “Quiero pisotearlos bajo mis pies“.

Los incidentes antisemitas son solo una parte del antisemitismo de Berlín. En esta atmósfera, donde el odio a Israel está muy extendido, el Museo Judío de Berlín ha sido severamente criticado por varios programas antiisraelíes a lo largo de los años.
